Sight impaired people may need an extra room to store equipment, such as CCTV.

That's stretching it very very far. Even if needed its far best placed near their door.

What good is it being placed there when it's used to help us read?

Quite although I got the MIL a talking temperature thermometer (she gets infections) and talking tape measure for Christmas which is the best device she's ever had.

Quite why she needs to measure everything now is beyond me but she likes it.

when i could still see a little, i had a camera that plugged into the television.
it was about the size of a computer mouse, but magnified everything upto the point where you could have a single word over the whole television screen.

If you are referring to an enlarger then you really are pushing it. Perhaps they need to store their radio in the spare room too.

oh god. see that we still have some deluded folk thinking they are the judge and jury as to who and what is deserving.

Nice to see the damaged minority still happy to publicly announce how broken they are by focussing on squirming out of the obvious and giving this cretinous policy faux validity.

    Or their guide dog.

This debate is now about the deserving poor or the undeserving poor.

Are some disabled more worthy than other disabled?

Should parents of serving soldiers get an additional bedroom?

Should foster carers get an additional bedroom?

Should pensioners be exempt from the bedroom tax?

Should a single pensioner get full housing benefit on a 3 bedroom property yet an unemployed 40 year old in a 3 bedroom property get a 25% cut?
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

unless a cap is set for private rents then the landlords will just suck their tenants dry.... charging as much as the LFA rate will allow ( and more)

If a cap is NOT set for private rents the landlords will be unable to 'suck the tenants dry' because the tenants will default on the payments, which is not good for the landlord.

Landlords let houses to make a profit. Most landlords have mortgages, insurance and upkeep to pay for on the property. Putting a cap on rent might well mean these payments can't be met, especially when you consider voids and tenants who get behind in their payment.

If you don't want to pay for private housing and aren't eligible to get SH, you'll have to save up for your own deposit, or live with family and friends.

so its survival of the fiyyesy>

many landlords dont set their rent by the costs of their mortgage plus a % of profit.
they charge as much as they can get away with.
they dont care if people on benefit are priced out of the rental marker, as those that are able to work mostly cant afford a mortgage deposit and so are ready to rent the vacated properties.

    living with family and friends?
well most friendships wouldnt last too long if they had to live together, and families dont have room enough of their own to take in their disabled relatives.
totally aside from the fact that disabled people arent on the whole, mentally impaired. they want and need independance and to make their own decisions and choices about how they live their lives!
