its weird isnt it how a few people have had bad second births,my second was abosoltuely dreadfull he was a back to back labour and he got stuck,i was that bad i was hallucinating and my veins in my arms collapsed and that was after epidural in which the senior registrar told me i couldnt feel anything but i was still in agony lol, then to top it all off i had to have forceps legs splayed and there was the window cleaner cleaning windows lol
    It`s getting to the point

I had about 12 people in my room with second labour... they didn't tell me when my epidural wore off I could have more.. I was so off my head with the Gas & Air.. I refused to let go of it even when I'd had my Epidural - the Anaesthetist told the Midwife to stop the tug of war we had going on (is the NHS short of Gas canisters or something!?) and said I could have it for 'psychological reasons' :D

The wall paper was the same colour as the sheet that was over me.. so when the Anaesthetist asked me to wiggle my toes.. I looked down at the Peach sheet against the Peach walls and asked him 'where's my f****g leg gone?'.... it was horrendous...

And pushing my second boy out.. I was staring at some bloke to the left of me that hard I remember making him shift around with unease :rotfl:

I must be abit weird cos it was the opposite for me 1st time I got by on TENS and gas and air
2nd time TENS gas and air didn't seem to do anything for me and I was screaming for drugs, epidural - god please help me! but cos they didn't believe I was in labour til too late:mad: (both times contractions ALL over the place) they wouldn't let me in earlier so could only have pethidine
Am really dreading no.3 but will try to remember about gas and air taking 30seconds to work :D

    Here's one for you.

When I was admitted with my second (pre ecclampsia) I was in the labour ward suite. A room with 4 beds used as a 'holding area' and an assessment suite. I had been sent down form day care as they thought they would have to deliver me that day.

So there I was, 32 weeks gone, worried sick, but kinda bla, had been there before. Was alone as husband had went home to get my bag. Nobody in the room at all and I was bored!

In the delivery room next door I heard a woman screaming that the baby was out! And a midwife screaming that the baby was stuck and she needed to sign this form for a C section NOW! Woman saying Its out, its out! Midwife saying baby is in trouble sign this now, you NEED a C section, woman YELLING its OUT!!!! Then Midwife shouting Doctor quick the head is out!!!! Doctor running in, baby was delivered safe and well and the woman still had the energy to say 'Told you so' !!!!

Met her a few days later in the ward, me still pregnant and her having a walk. Started talking and she told me about how nobody would lift the bloody sheet even though she was telling them the head was out. I told her I had been in the room next to her and had heard it all. Don't think she ever let them live it down! At least we had a good laugh about it!!

my second was the easiest birth of the three (so far!), 2 hours, no drugs just tens machine and then birthing pool, born at home in the middle of the night and dd1 slept through the whole thing! :D

I'm hoping number four is that easy too :) just hope it doesn't arrive on it's due date (Boxing Day!)

My 1st labour was about 15 hours long with epidural and forceps

    Not very nice

2nd labour was 7 hours epidural which wore off in time to push, Lots of gas and air and it was pretty easy.

3rd labour was 4 hours with just gas and air, The only bad bit was pushing out ( I can only describe it as a ring of fire )

4th labour was horrendous. But I really think it was down to the fact that this was the only one that had to be induced. All the other started naturally, I had 3 sweeps with this one and eventually they broke my waters. I really thought that the baby would just fly out and was really worried about getting to the hospital on time but oh no . Baby wanted to stay put.

The midwife refused me pain relief apart from gas and air ( I was begging for an epidural) and had me bouncing up and down on a giant rebok ball. Eventually after 8 hours dd no 4 was born and never again.

I think that there were two reasons that this labour was worse and they are the fact that there was an 8 year gap between this one and the last pregnancy. Uterus had forgotton what to do and also as I said earlier I had to be induced, I am convinced they got my dates wrong .

I think the main thing is don't have any expectations of how its going to be just deal with it when you get there. Baby has got to come out and after baby does all the pain will go ( apart from after pains if you breastfeed - they never tell you about that do they ) and it will be all worth it
