Think It Is Always Easier With The First Birth As You Are So Naive As To What Is To Come. With Further Births You Know The Pain That Is Coming Your Way.

Good Luck - I Have Just Found Out I Am Pregnant With My Fourth Too.

Gosh. I've only had two - one CS and one natural so have no idea but just wanted to say Good luck! I think 3kids must be right though that knowing what to expect takes the fear out of things and makes it all easier to cope with.

In theory second stage should be easier the more babies you have given birth to vaginally, but there are so many other variables that this is not always the case!
  • i've only done it twice but the second time was easier. i enjoyed it actually, it was fun in an odd sort of way :rotfl:

I had no pain relief with the first two but in a way it was a very moving experience, and life changing definitely. THird one I decided I knew what it felt like so I asked for an epidural, one push and he was out!
I think there was deffo too much emphasis on pain relief in parenting classes - I walked out in the end, They were all geared towards drugs drugs drugs rather than empowering women to trust their bodies and be strong!

  • i wanted gas and air and am not ashamed to admit it :D but they do say it hurts more when you're on a drip (i wouldn't know, it's been the drip both times) and everyone else i know reckons you 'need' an epidural when you're on the drip.

but even though it hurt and i wanted to rip the drip out i had a feeling of empowerment if that doesn't sound too daft.

i would do it again, i'd even do it for somebody else if i was asked to (not that it would ever happen because i'm old and fat).

I've had two, sadly no more on Doctors orders.

First was an induction at 35 weeks, 12 hour labour, no probs. Second was emergency C section at 33 weeks with lots and lots of complications.

I can honestly say that I would rather be in labour for a week with no pain relief and nothing but Rosie and Jim on telly (I hate Rosie and Jim) than go through what I went through with the second. Oh and having to eat liver and drink cold tea with milk...

You can't plan for whats going to happen, you can never know. But you forget all about it soon as you see that little bundle of poop! :j
