    I've been Money Tipped!
What an amazing journey! Thanks for the updates - you've been a real inspiration :T

  • An interesting read mr Newcastle. I had a letter not long ago from monument saying I'd been paying on a payment break plan and would I like to claim.
I rang up the phone number given and an automated voice said they'd be in touch.
Well Saturday I had a letter from them sayin "final response" and stating that without accepting liability they're prepared to pay my charges of £300 plus compound interest adding upto £1883 .
My question is. when you claimed. Did they send a cheque for the amount they owed you within the allotted 28 days? Do I need to do anything now to get the cheque?
All I owe now on the account is £419. So imagine they'll take that from what the owe me? .
  • Hello,
    sorry for the late reply.
Everyone who refunded me did within the 28 days.

Regarding payment. Only the Northern Rock & Monument reduced by Balance. Everyone else despite still having a debt with them sent me a cheque or electronic transfer !!

  • I lost my house and company back in 2008 and had no choice but to stop paying my bank overdraft / mortgage / card debts! I was unable to make myself bankrupt due to the cost and no other debtor made me bankrupt. Even thou I still owe monies to these banks/ mortgage / cards can I still claim PPI? Its over 6 years now and I have not been able to make any payments and have not been in touch with any of these people. Paid out thousands in ppi to many many card companies aswell as overdrafts and mortgages over the past 20 odd yrs ..Can I still make a claim? Thanks in advance for any help you may give me x

If you still owe them money, if you make a successful complaint, they will take that money off the money you owe them.

  • Received a cheque off Barclaycard for £557.36 regarding a Morgan Stanley card. So now just the Goldfish card and then bank charges for Lloyds TSB current account..

Current PPI Status as of 9th March 2015

    £9,262 Cheque Received (Lloyds Tsb)
    £8,190 Cheque Received (Barclays)
    £5,708 Bank Transfer Received (HSBC)
£1,536 Cheque Received (Bank Of Scotland)
    £1,122 Cheque Received (Barclaycard)
    £0,625 Cheque Received (MBNA)
£0,557 Cheque Received (Barclaycard - MS)
    £0,206 Bank Transfer Received (NRAM)
    £0,028 Cheque Received (Capital One)

    £1,906 Balance Reduced (NRAM)
    £0,563 Balance Reduced (Monument)

Been advised no PPI- (LLoyds TSB Credit Card)
Refused Refund - (Barclaycard - Goldfish) - Kind of curious why they refused when i sent the identical application form for that and the Barclaycard - MS at the same time and both reviewed by same person yet different decisions. Will pass it on to FOS.
    Nothing ventured and nothing gained

£27,250 - Total Received So Far
£02,354 - Total Offset against Balances
    £29,604 - Grand Total

This has been a massive journey.
    My original debt was £108k
10 years into a DMP with Stepchange it is just over 50k now

I sent away F&F letters today to all my creditors offering 30% of the balance. Expect them to say no but will keep upping it.
PPI Refund pot means I could go as high as 55%.

No matter what though I am now going to be debt free guaranteed by July 2019 at the latest.

Ps All the firms that I still owe did sent a cheque or transfer.
The 2 that didn't that reduced balance were

Monument (It just about paid the card off)
NRAM (This was the weird one as they had sold it to Marlin yet reduced the balance and when I checked with Marlin they had reduced it by the exact amount)

Received a cheque today off Capital One for £28.86

Total Compensation received now stands at £27,505.04

Refused by HBOS and hit a brick wall with GoldFish

I believe my PPI journey is reaching an end.

Never dreamt that when i sat down on Friday 3rd January with a phone, a list of numbers and a notepad that less than 3 months later i would have received compensation equivalent to 48% off my current debt

I am going to refer the bank of Scotland one to the FoS.
Thank you to everyone who has commented or advised or even just stayed silent and not berated me for being irresponsible years ago.

Despite no assets and living in a rented flat I am not going to bankrupt and do intend to pay every penny that I owe (subject to the odd F&F reduced offer)

This forum has changed my life and I will never forget that.

Can I just ask, if Capital One owed you £28 what was that for? How long were you covered? Thanks

How long did it take each bank to pay out from the date of your original ppi requests forms sent out ? And were you given amounts of compensation before payments were made to you? cheers!!
  • All claims started January 2014 and if you read the whole thread I post in real time when each Offer and payment made.
