See entry 26/6/07 (dated tomorrow?!) here - barclays are offering a 5% cashback deal on purchases for 6 months as of July for existing account holders only... rang to check - and the rep in customer loyalty confirmed it - she took my contact details and said she would be contacting me soon once the offer was released.
Please could you confirm which department you spoke to and what was the number, as I spoke to customer loyalty and the lady didnt have a clue of what I was on about....
have you heard anything yet about this cashback?

Ok people , I just got off the phone from BC and they state that they do have plans to bring out a cashback scheme !!
BUT and its a big but , it is pointless ringing them up at least for the next 4 weeks .
They have no idea who can get the cashback also when it is going to start and have no details about it at all .
They say the best think to do is ring in 4 weeks and they willbe more than happy to help anyone out who wants to apply and by that time they will have details of the scheme and wether its all card or just some cards etc etc etc , the scheme is due to start around the end of July or the first few weeks in August.
The also knew it was on this website and said they had lots of calls lol !!!!
Hope this helps the ones who havent called yet (the ones that have will know this already)
This was my post a few weeks ago , It is happening but not until august at earliest !!0 -

Hi, no still not received anything in the post.
In answer to who I spoke to: I rang the number on the back of my barclaycard and told them I was interested in closing the account but could they do anything for me. They transferred me to Customer Loyalty and the lady there asked me why I wanted to close and what it was that made me use my other non-barclay card. I told them it was cashback and rewards. She asked me if I was interested in 5% for 6 months on purchases. I said yes, she confirmed my contact details and said I would hear in late July.Is that a new blouse? It really suits you.0 -
Well, I've just rang Barclaycard as I've just had a letter saying my gold card is to change to a platinum card and they are giving me 0% balance transfer for a year.
Well, I don't want the BT so thought I'd try it on with 5% cash back for 6months. The chap checked with a manager, and said they are not offering this promotion at all, and it was wrongly promoted on the internet. ???
This is what I expected, so I requested them not to change my account to a 0% BT account but change to a cash back card (not that great, but it will do). Barclaycard said I can't switch to this, as it's for new customers only. I fully expected them to change this with no hassle, as I could easily cancel my current card and open a new card with them.
So, I said I'm thinking of closing the account and going with another card provider who gives me cash back (e.g. capital one)... is there anything you can do. Nope, they can't do anything for me even though I have been with them for over 8years.
Also, what's the benefit of a platinum card? A gold card was prestigious at one point (you had to earn a certain amount), and it's not like the platinum card is prestigious either.
All seems a bit ridiculous to me. Shame, Barclaycard will loose my business as I do spend a fair whack with them.0 -

I have just gone with barclaycard, and they are already getting on my nerves, to cut a long story short there are far far too many offers, and the confusion has lead to me experiencing many problems...
what you want to do mate is e-mail the Chief Executive, I have his e-mail if you like. Im sure they could do something for you, as they did alot of things for me.
Let me know if you would like it mate
as far as the platinum goes, it is still prestigious in my opinion, I have a gold card aswell...INCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!

I can't imagine that any card could be considered prestigious, and it seems irrelevant anyway.Stompa0
