Barclaycard 5% cashback for 6 months

See entry 26/6/07 (dated tomorrow?!) here - barclays are offering a 5% cashback deal on purchases for 6 months as of July for existing account holders only. Well I was meaning to close my account because I never use it, so rang to check - and the rep in customer loyalty confirmed it - she took my contact details and said she would be contacting me soon once the offer was released.
Is that a new blouse? It really suits you.

Time to sign up today then!

Edit: Is it all the products listed here:
    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/products/apply/card_range.html

    Or certain ones only?

Dunno - but the rep didn't mention any card type or eligibility criteria - just that you had to be an existing customer. Mine's a plat visa.

Thanks. Just finished applying for a platinum one. As soon as it gets here I will move my spending to that instead of the GE Money 3% one when the offer kicks in.

I was told by the Customer Loyalty team that scheme was going to be rolled out towards the end of July and that customers would receive a letter from them.

Got a 0% Balance on this card which expires October. Wonder if it's worth shifting this balance somewhere else otherwise I'd get hit with the standard purchase rate until the 0% balance was cleared.

Maybe it's time to close a few cards (I have 7 but only 3/4 are active) and get a M&S 4.9%LOB card.

Hmmm, this sounds good. I haven't used my Barclaycard for 2.5 years, looks like I'll have to dust it off and get spending!

Got the letter about this today. It's limited to £20 cashback a month, so £400 max spend a month. Sadly my Barclaycard is on 2.9% life of BT offer, so not worth getting 5% cashback only to pay their 24.9% rip off rate!

Edit: obviously didn't get letter today, as it's 12:15am, Royal Mail ain't that efficient!
