Hello all. Can I join you please? I used to post in the forum a few years back under old username of decemberbaby (joined MSE on my birthday). Couldn't get logged in with that one now. I see you are still keeping the scores dear Shaggy so could I go for 22. I have done 12 already for February including tonight. I need to get a grip on my drinking again. Last year went downhill after losing both my best friend and my Dad within 4 weeks of each other.
Hope everyone's having a good evening and hope things improve for you SPS.0 -

Dear Stupot, I am very sorry to hear you and your DH are apart. I hope there is can be a reconciliation. Well done for steering clear of drink, I don't think I'd have been so strong under the circumstances. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Hi all,
So sorry to hear of your troubles stupotsu - I do hope you manage to sort things through whichever way things go. Maybe you have 'out-grown' each other but if you can work through your differences & stick together then good luck to you both.
Welcome ruby - nice to 'meet' you
I was having a lovely weekend until this afternoon. OH went drinking and came back rather worse for wear & a bit aggressive - nothing I could do was right and we have had a big argument - must be something in the water at the moment
Sorry to burden you all with it but you are the only guys I can talk to at the moment0 -
Calling in to report 16/25.

Good morning all
Gien - thank you for taking the time to make your observation, totally not invasive and makes a lot of sense - after Thursday night I am coming around to that way of thinking
I cut down over the weekend by using blackcurrant juice and water as my placebo and Shaggy's stop button as well as the thoughts if I get into the state I was in on Thursday night and feeling like I did on Friday then I was going to take a cold bathI know that sounds crazy but I had to take them after running long distances when training for London mara last year and they were purgatory (but necessary) so instead of thinking oh yummy I cant wait to sip (or gulp in my case) a lovely red, I now think how far do you want to push this before you will need to take a cold bath - sounds bonkers but all these things are working for me - re-programming my brain and placebo drinks, understanding I have a personality that has extreme tendencies (im an all or nothing person) and of course you fantastic lot :j THANK YOU ALL
For those struggling with their OHs my heart goes out to you and I hope you find your way forward with or without each other - Im 7+ years out of my marriage and have had 2 relationships since, one ending only last month but I count my blessings that I am out of my marriage and everything else I experienced since has been a learning curve
Thank you lot for listening to my rantings but like I said on Friday this is like a food diary and very much a lifeline for me at the moment

Sorry to hear your news sts, but I'm sure a bit of time apart is a good thing. It'll give you both some space to think. You're doing so well not to try and alleviate matters with booze, a clear head is the best thing now.Greytcatlady wrote: ».
Maybe it's because we didn't give ourselves a choice in Jan combined with the support from here made it easier to resist. We still have the support but giving ourselves permission to drink has made it more complicated. We now have to go through the decision making process of 'shall I shan't I tonight' and it's just not as easy as 'as decided not to (in Jan) so I won't '.As some of you know, I've been too unsure to declare "on the day" before but I'm determined today!
Hope it worked for you gwithbag. I've found taking the decision early in the day has really been working for me. It doesn't guarantee success but it helps.Hi Ruby! I remember you, or at least I remember Decemberbaby! Welcome back
I remember you too!! Good to see you, whatever your name is!:)
I'm aiming for 3 AFs this week, starting tonight. I'm out for supper on Wednesday but others should be OK.
I think I'm on 7 AFDs please Shaggy, but I will go back and check.
ETA: I checked and I have my first smiley!!0 -
