maggiesoup1 wrote: »Evening all, I love reading through all the entries and can see it's a struggle for so many. I've not done well over the last few days either and I'm beginning to wilt a bit, which is soul destroying given that I thought I'd got into an AF pattern of not drinking for a few days after the weekend. Isn't it odd when your brain just makes up it's mind that at 5.30pm when driving home, for no reason at all, it's going to let you have a drink? Monday night and I'm on my second large B&C WHY??
I'm going to try to salvage the month by requesting please Shaggy that I change my target from 15 (which I now can't make) to 11 which hopefully is achievable. Sorry to give you extra work when you do such a sterling job already.
It is weird that a lot of unhelpful or destructive choices arrive in your brain as decisions that have already been made. "Oh yes, I'm going to buy this [insert unnecessary consumer item of choice], of course I am, because I want it." Same with drinking! It's hard to step back from the sense of having "arrived" at a resolution and say "hang on, no I'm not" and sometimes it's even hard to realise that you ought to do that or do still have a choice. It's very sneaky of the brain
Anyway maggiesoup1, no judgementChanging your target to salvage the month sounds like a good plan.

Up ridiculously early for a trip to London today. An AFD yesterday (though succumbed to sharing a bottle of prosseco on Sunday with Mister CountingPennies!) So, including today which will be AFD that's me on 18/23 please shaggy.
Thinking about a target for March. Need to be more reasonable as on hols for last week. Thinking I might set a low target but also set some ALDs. Shall have to think on it and think about what ALD would be - perhaps one drink?0 -
Morning all and it's 13/15 for me today please Shaggy. Nearly at my target, yay0

Good Morning,
Another AFD for me last night, 7 AFD please Shaggy.

22/29 AFDs for last night. Had a lovely rest day, and didn't get up until mid-day. Bliss. Just what I needed to re-charge my batteries.
Went to a Dementia Friends talk last night, and whilst the speaker wasn't brilliant she did give one useful snippet that people with dementia may forget your name, the conversation, the trip out for cake, etc., they will remember the emotion (whether it's good or bad) attached to it. That has given me much pause for thought. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
I'm really struggling with sugar and chocolate cravings at the moment, having given them up for Lent. I honestly thought that it wouldn't be this hard. Just goes to show how hard-wired our brains are to feed destructive habits - booze, fags, the pure white and deadly stuff, impulse consumer tat purchases when shopping .... The only thing I absolutely know about all of them is that making a commitment to tackle the habit instead of allowing myself to feel helpless and caving in, and then following through for a bit produces results in the long term.
I had to stop eating dates on Sunday morning because after three I realised they were too sweet, whereas normally it would have been six, no bother. It's a tiny bit of progress, but it is progress.
23/29 please, Shaggy and 31 for March.Better is good enough.0 -
Afternoon :hello:
An AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

I've just brought some Chocologic chocolate from Tesco - it is no added sugar chocolate - does that count? I haven't tasted it yet - so don't know if it's any good!! Might taste horrible!
EDIT : I have just realised it's full of artificial sweetnerI'll probably chuck it in the bin. Waste of money!
