Well, I had two glasses of red wine yesterday evening. Really enjoyed the first but the second was a bit 'meh'. I didn't actually finish it, which I'm quite pleased about but still had a rubbish night, woke up sweating and then again when Small arrived to tell me he'd had an upset tummy in his bed  In my bleary-eyed stupor, I let him snuggle in with us and an hour later he trumped in our bed too, with the same consequences
Ah well, an early start was had by all...
No wine tonight. I really didn't like my interrupted sleep and have felt carp all day.0 -
Oh dear Dizzy.

20/29 AFDs tonight. This afternoon mum and I went to a church tea put on by the youth group. It was every bit as good as any you'd get at a posh hotel, with yummy cakes, sandwiches and scones. The youth group were very attentive, and even gave mum 6 small cakes to take back with her. There was no charge, just a box for donations. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon when there's wll-to-wall football on the TV at home. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Cathybird that website is a bit like Belle's 100 Day Challenge and as far as I'm concerned the more information we have, the more likely readers and posters are to find the one that suits them best. There is, of course, Soberistas as well. Your three month idea is very similar to Belle's, which is the site I used and without it and this thread I wouldn't have succeeded.
Piggles, I was thinking about you last night and hoping that your friend was supportive and helpful about your choice not to drink in the same way as the past, but clearly my *sincere friend* vibes didn't work. To be completely fair, most of the people in my life who I think of as friends have been 100% supportive of my choice to knock drinking on the head but one or two, who should have known better because they are intelligent people, have been very odd about it. I can no longer think of them as friends, because friends are people who want the best for us. Well done on spotting that this chap is not a helpful person in your life right now.
Lovely to hear about the smashing tea with your mother Satchmo and sorry you had such a carp night, Dizzy, no pun intended but it's there just the same. You really are having a trying time.
21/29 please, Shaggy.
We're going out to lunch later in a group of people who we used to drink ourselves under the table with regularly, and I for one am very grateful that after lunch I will be fit enough to enjoy the rest of the day, and tomorrow. That didn't happen for 20 years.Better is good enough.0 -

thanks Honey Bear
I think I'd have felt better if he'd at least said ok, what can I shift or pack or move? It's as if he only wants me to be a constant drinker because it makes me more pliable, agreeable to anything and predictable. I had a lot of mates like that who hated me being sober, but that was in my 20s.
Left to my own devices last night I did some more packing, had cranberry juice and watched a bit of tv. I remember thinking I'd be happy if I never drank again. It's so much hassle, especially when the level creeps up.
I'm at the packing and shifting stuff stage where creature comforts are disappearing. I'm in an awful mess of furniture. It looks like a building site
aw Dizzy, that doesn't sound great. Life seems to have a whole sackful of spanners to throw sometimes.
13/18 AFD please shaggy0 -
