7 please, Shaggy, thanks I was very tempted last night, but I really want to beat my last year's totals :)

I hope 365 is doing very well - thanks for the info, Jo :T

Have a good Friday, all xx
  • 9/31 for me please Shaggy
  • Morning All :D

I have a little bit of news from the Rainman household. Yesterday MrR went along to a Drug and Alcohol service we have in our town to get some help with his issues :)

    2 things prompted this;
1, He had an appointment at 10am Tuesday morning. He had the shakes so bad he had to have a glass of wine before he went to stop them  He knew this was unacceptable.
2., Late last year MrR was made redundant again. Being at home all day meant more time for drinking. I was working extra hours and I was getting concerned that I was leaving LittleR with someone who was under the influence. A couple of weeks before Christmas he was getting through 27 bottles of wine a week and thats when I made the choice to speak to a social worker at our local childrens centre.
She came round to speak to us, it's clear LittleR is well looked after and she had no concerns. However she made it clear that if an accident happened while MrR was in charge he would be at risk of being done for neglect.

A bit of a risky strategy for me to use, but I was getting desperate!!

So he had an initial assessment yesterday. They breathalyzed him, then promptly took his car key away! Full assessment next week.

This has been a long time coming. Hopefully things will start to get better.

Well done for that really brave move Mrs R! And what a worry this all must have been for you, I hope Mr R has really had a wake up call and that you can get back on track. The only way is up now, all the best to you all.

That was an amazingly brave thing to do MrsR - I do hope he gets the help he needs.

Great to hear that 365 is doing OK after surgery - my thoughts and prayers are with her.

I have managed 4 consecutive days too - which is unusual for me - that takes me to 5/15 please Shaggy.

I'm not sure I should say this on here but I am actually looking forward to sitting down with a nice glass of wine over dinner tonight :o - but I do know it will only be the one glass as I have only bought one of those mini 175ml bottles. I know they are not very MSE but they help me control my intake which can only be good news ;)

Have a great day everyone :)

That sounds like very positive news MrsR. I'm delighted for you and :Tfor standing by him all this time. You're a star:A

Things going badly here.:( Went out unexpectedly last night: meal and a few drinks. Nothing serious but I much prefer to get some AF days clocked up early in the month. Hopefully next week will be better. Must try harder.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I read somewhere today that there's been a drop in the number of young people (15-23 years old) who are drinking. The article suggests that the behaviour of drunken older people (inclucing their parents!) has put them off drinking too much. Can only be a good thing.
I know that my 17 year old doesn't drink (and it's legal where we live from 16!) - he just doesn't really like the taste.

I have noticed this in my nephews and nieces too. One of my nieces who is 25 said to me that she is never going to drink like her mum (my youngest sister!) and dad (I think they drink wine every night - I didn't like to ask). I also have a number of nephews who seem to be a bit anti drinking.
However, I also have a number of nephews and nieces who are enthusiastic drinkers to say the least! One has even had her stomach pumped when she was a young teenager...._pale_ They are the siblings of the ones who are anti-drinking, so I guess they are all individuals?
