9/31 for me too please Shaggy, I am cold and exhausted and spending a night under the blanket on the sofa with a huge hot chocolate and the television!0

Looks like she last logged on in June 2013. I joined the thread in October 2009 and I'm not sure she was posting then. I actually don't remember her - don't know about anyone else who was on the thread before me?
I guess she cleared her debts and is living an MSE debt free AF life
I'd like to think so too, Shaggy! As for the rest of you, to quote Young Mr. Grace, "You're all doing very well!" (makes me want to spit!).
Keep it up, it gives me hope.0 -
Hello Milky and Crazymum (and any other lurkers, come in and join us!).
I am calling tonight early as AF. I have a cold, sore throat and sinus issues so I will not be drinking. I think that makes it 6 please Shaggy.
I read the article about 'almost alcoholics' posted above and I have to say that I would class myself as that. I wouldn't fit the stereotype 'alkie' but am most definately a bit of a lush and really, once I get stuck into a bit of drink I find it hard to stop for the night.
I read somewhere today that there's been a drop in the number of young people (15-23 years old) who are drinking. The article suggests that the behaviour of drunken older people (inclucing their parents!) has put them off drinking too much. Can only be a good thing.
I know that my 17 year old doesn't drink (and it's legal where we live from 16!) - he just doesn't really like the taste. Sometime I wish he would have a glass of wine - it's probably help him chill out a bit (am I a terrible mother?).Trying to keep in budget.

9/31 for me today please. Looking forward to the last night of really not being bothered before the weekend.
The next animated thingy you get by your name seems a long way off.

I read this and thought it sounded sensibleIn the initial stage, reduce the quantity of alcohol intake. Rome wasn't built in a day. You're probably not going to kick your habit in a week, either. That's perfectly okay. Small victories beget bigger ones. In the beginning, simply try to reduce the amount of alcohol you consume. Going straight from a heavy drinker to cold turkey is a recipe for physical and emotional disaster.
Even if you only reduce your daily drinking by one drink, it's a success. No step is too small at this point.
A mistake here is getting comfortable only curbing your drinking by one drink. Keep working on reducing the alcohol you consume. Every week, cut down the total number of drinks by at least one. If you want to be more ambitious, try halving the number of drinks you allow yourself each week. What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
9/31 for me please Shaggy - the only thing tempting me right now is my bed! It must be the weather or the anti-climax of Xmas being over, but I'm so tired and lethargic!
Lots of positive vibes to 365 and willpower vibes to all who need them x0 -

9/31 AFDs tonight. Didn't over-eat today, but I am sooo hungry. Some of it was boredom, as work was tedious, except for a meeting where I had a hint of some freelance work from mid-April, fingers crossed.
I lurked around this thread for over a year before I joined in. I'm glad I did, because my drinking had increased as well as the number of nights I was drinking. I dread to think what sort of state I'd be in without the support of you guys. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
