I must have smallish ones! It takes me up to five.

Re distraction techniques, a substitute drink can help - I find ginger beer makes the craving go away, or even something like grapes. Quite often when I think I want a drink in the early evening I'm actually just thirsty.

My glasses are quite small as well. but I water the wine down, so each glass contains about half a unit. It takes a lot of glasses to get up to 7 units but it seems I still managed it a couple of times.

For me the cigarettes don't help. If I gave that up I reckon the not drinking would be easier.

Piggles1, fingers crossed that one of the nice places you were hoping to get does come up in the near future. Sorry to hear about the parcel - I don't know why it's always when you really want these things for support that they get lost in the mail!

I wish they would pull their fingers out over the mental health support. :(

Re the units, do you know, I think the main thing is that you've come on here to talk about it! And 7 AF days is pretty great - over half of the days of the month so far - I've got 7. So actually, well done you :j:j:j :)

Thank you cathybird :) Usually your replies are too many pages back by the time I get to reply but I caught this one!

You're right, 7 AFDs is more than half the time so that's something.

The parcel people have been very good so I have to reorder and hope the next lot arrives.

I'm under a bit of pressure with the flat because of the redevelopment of the whole area. I feel a bit like I'm going to have to take not what I wanted which isn't a good feeling (replicates my childhood a bit with only deserving leftovers/rubbish). The last pretty one came up before Christmas and none since. My poor brain is swimming with it all but I have to have an AFD tonight because I drank too much last night and feel slow and awful.

I'll see how I feel after a sober evening :)

    +1 for tonight please. :)

Piggles, sorry to hear things don't sound so great for you. Why not leave moving for a while? You could perhaps adapt your own home if you need to. :) Please ignore me if you've already explained this, I'll admit I've only been skim reading for a while.

:embarasse I was once given a wine glass that holds a whole bottle! I know it was meant as as joke but it did hit home a bit :(

Sorry things are pants ATM Piggles. Just take each day as it comes hun x

I held out last night, despite the day from hell, which involved my girl pup having to have her severed toe amputated and the skids train being stopped as some poor soul had a heart attack on board, so they were stranded for ages:eek:

Today will be a better day. And hopefully less expensive! Up to 9/25 to date please Shaggy. As I've got a cold, I doubt I'll be drinking today. Make that I won't be drinking today.

    Hello Everyone,

I think I need a bit of support. I am on a weight loss journey and have significantly cut down on what I drink, I have managed reasonably well since the end of September. The problem is that I've had a bad week and I can feel the itch and I don't want to scratch it. My eating and drinking is all wrapped up in how I'm feeling. If life is ticking along and the status quo is maintained then it is easier to control. If the slightest thing rocks the boat then it is so easy to get that bottle of wine.

Is it too late to join the challenge? Is it ok not to set a number, and take it a day at a time? I have been motivated by some really nice peeps over on the SW thread, I have lost 28lbs and a large part of that is not drinking too much. I get the impression that this thread would be equally supportive, and I selfishly need that at the moment. I also feel physically better and I don't want my mental state to sabotage my physical improvement.

    Apologies if I'm rambling!

hey Alex, thanks :) I have no choice but to move and until I have moved I can't start fighting about the mental health because I don't know what I'll be near. Where I live now is perfectly adapted, but the whole area is being redeveloped :( There's loads of us affected.

Thanks Dizzy :) Good plan to take each day. Hope the pup's ok and recovers quickly and adapts well. I think they usually do :) Poor person falling ill travelling.

I had some wine glasses that took 3/4 of a bottle each. Bad idea, needless to say they all got broken very quickly:rotfl:

I've withdrawn my application for the one I was worried about. Getting drunk and being awake all night meant I must have been worried about it, and I can't have myself unsettled like that. I've now got to apologise to the redevelopment representative and say sorry please wait a bit longer, and hope they're ok about it.

I didn't drink last night so my head stayed clear, and I feel calmer today, if a bit worred as usual :o but I definitely feel in a better place to make decisions when I don't drink.

    8/18 AFD please shaggy :)
