Hi Dizzy, Catholicism used to be much more stringent, it used to be obligatory to eschew meat every Friday, now that applies only during "Holy Days of Obligation" and every Friday of Lent for those over 14 and under 80.
A day of fasting and abstinence allows one main meal and two snacks (not to equal a main meal). So, I had muesli for breakfast, an apple late afternoon and the roast veg n cheese for dinner.
Goodness, I'd starve - I'm the proverbial dustbin! I imagine you're positively sylphid by Easter xHoney_Bear wrote: »Bonus
I'm completely doped up because I've got a dental appointment with drilling and filling this morning. It's the first time I've taken anything mind-altering since knocking the drinking on the head and, rather sadly for me - it feel absolutely lovely. Really fabulously gorgeous. Thank God I'm not even remotely tempted by it as a way of life but it does make me remember what I liked about being drunk. All plans for today are on hold while I drift about being happily entirely useless. Soz.
11/29 please, Shaggy.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Ooh, how lovely - drifting about in a happy state:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Can't remember what my total is now...Got distracted! Will pop back later x0 -

Welcome aboard gabriel.:)
Two suggestions to get you going: distractions or an alternative drink and I wouldn't discount giving yourself a good talking to!! So you could plan to do something else instead of the late night movies and games like going out to the cinema and then when you get home just put the kettle on because it'll be a shame to waste an AF night if you've got that far. Or you could carry on as usual but buy in a (cheaper) soft drink specially instead. Otherwise just tell yourself firmly 'I'm not going to drink' even if you have to go an hour at a time and go to bed early. Perhaps if you watched movies in bed you'd be happy with a cup of cocoa rather than beer?;)
I'm not planning to drink today but will call by later to confirm.0 -
Afternoon :hello:
Family birthday meal last night - and I had 5 units - so no AFDs/ALDs to report today.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Honey Bear, sounds great, except for the dentist part! Hope it went okay.
Gabriel1980, hello! My trick to deal with the urge to drink is just to say to myself: "Nope. Not tonight" or "Nope. Not right now". That decision to dismiss the craving seems to make it go away and I forget about it. If you think of it in terms of a month it might seem like a long time, even though it isn't really - best to think of it simply in terms of just this day (I find). Also, forgive me for asking, but if you can get through a bottle of wine in only three glasses (on Wed and Thurs), do you have quite large wine glasses? ...
In other news, I overdid it a little last night on the akvavit (I like akvavit) and felt myself veering vaguely in the direction of a hangover this morning, though no headache or anything, but just a slightly seedy edge. Am therefore very glad I have an AFD today and tomorrow and this thread to keep me on the straight and narrow!0
