Although I think he's been feeling a bit under the weather (waiting for some blood test results) so part of it is thinking that maybe drinking isn't helping his health.
Oh how worrying for you both. Hope the tests come back soon and that he's soon back to tip top health.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Oh I do like the 7 day smiley! Not remotely interesting in alcohol tonight. Having a nice bath instead. 8/23 for me please shaggy. Agree with maman and Maggie about hiking taxes on the alcohol. I think it is probably part of the solution but not on its own. Who knows though? Maybe in a few years time we will understand more about alcohol and drinking habits and it will go the way of cigarettes.0

4 AF please Shaggy
Like maggiesoup I became 'all that gallous way' as I clocked up a good few AF days in Jan I thought naively that Feb would be a skoosh. How little did I know! So that's why I'm sitting with only 4 AF days thus far. Onwards and upwards and all that. It’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0 -
4 AF please Shaggy
Thanks for all the contributions to my question, I suspected it's a very complex issue but I genuinely think it might make oldies like me cut down a bit.

Your post made me laugh out loud (I'm honestly scared to put LOL nowadays since the politician gaff!!) but saying gallus is so "Still Game"
To those not in the know, Still Game is a hugely popular Scottish comedy programme, I'd say watch it on You Tube but you'd probably need subtitles!
Had a rubbish day and didn't get home til 7.30pm (I'm a 61 yr old woman!!! I should be retiring to India like those actors in The Real Marigold Hotel last night :rotfl:) so allowing myself a Bicardi & Coke, heyho I've had 3 days AF to, compared to last year, that's a miracle!0 -
10/29 AFDs tonight. DH cracked and has opened a bottle of white wine that was a thank-you gift to him. Guess what... I wasn't even tempted!
He also forgot Ash Wednesday is a meat-free day and made sausages with baked veg. Fortunately, he cooks the sausages separately, so I just put some yummy crumbled cheese on my veg. He was so apologetic, because we had discussed having fish n chips. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
10/29 for tonight please.0
