Hooray for February! ... I must admit one of my first thoughts on waking this morning was "oh I can drink again" - bit disturbing having that thought at 7.30am
- not that I felt like it at that hour, but I thought of it!
Anyway, the plan for Feb is to have 3 AFDs this week and four every week from then on (adding up to 15 for the month). I won't be AFD tonight or tomorrow night but I will for Wed. Fri and Sun. So we'll see how that goes.0 -
Evening All,
We're having people for dinner tonight.
As is customary I'm chomping at the bit for a flagon of wine following on from a few stiff gins prior. Other Half has some prosecco chilling too.
Currently pacing.
Up & down stairs, brushed my teeth twice, drank water etc.
Last night of "Dry January" & within AA they've told me to focus on staying alcohol free for today only. I obviously know that tomorrow is Feb and I need to start "Dry Feb" too but again a day at a time including tonight.
So
Calling in my last AF night for Jan taking me to 27/31 AF for the month. Not actually dry but a massive improvement on December.
Hope you are all well and happy and as dry as you need to be tonight.

Stupotsu, I feel your pain as well - I hope it went okay and without too much gritting of teeth on your part.
FWIW that's how I deal with the urge to drink too - think "not today", "not tonight" - I find it does work - perhaps I got the idea from reading about AA at some point? ... I hope it made it a little easier for you.0 -
Morning :hello:

I did tease DH that he could have Jack Daniels on his muesli if he wanted to! Fortunately he declined. Not sure what his plans are for February. I'm hoping he may have some AFDs but has to be his choice.
:T huge congratulations to everyone for Dry January.
Definitely AF for me today.

Morning All,
Woke up this morning feeling uber positive and excited about starting the new month. Obviously I am clear headed having been AF last night too. I have listed my objectives for the month including attending at least one AA meeting per week (the one i'm comfortable at) and remaining AF on a day to day basis.
Just want to throw this out there but do any of you listen to seminars on youtube of life coaches and public commentators such as Jack Canfield, Tony Robbins or Frances Scovel - Shinn? Great positive affirmations and pro life, pro achievement coaching. All for free.
I've listened to them for years off and on but listened a lot more recently. Some of you may get something out of it.
Calling in one 1/29 AF night tonight. I have a social function but know I won't drink there despite the fact it will be fun to do so. Plus I've called in early too so can't break that.
Well done everyone on Dry January & all the best for Feb goals.
