Worrying choices, Satchmo. Did you have time to ask if the skin graft doesn't take what the result would be, or do you already know?
12/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

11/31 AFDs for me today. Today has been a mixed bag.
Good: planning a milestone birthday-trip to Italy, which will include an evening at the open air Opera in Verona, time in Florence, Pisa and Milan. It's likely to be a culture-fest, it's unlikely to be AF, lol. I've started a must-see list. Any day-time suggestions for Verona gratefully received.
Bad: taking mum to a consultant's appointment for two non-malignant basal-cell carcinomas. The one on her leg, the consultant proposes doing a skin graft but said the likelihood of it grafting was only 30%. I wasn't impressed (he could tell) with a 70% chance of failure. I wanted to know what would happen if it was left. He said it will grow, but he couldn't assess how quickly.
Wryly funny: The consultant's name is Mr James. My mum's name is Mrs James. I asked him whether he'd tell his mum to have it done (I didn't realise the humour of that until later) - his response was too quick for my liking, i.e. he's been asked that before and his answer didn't appear to take the patient's age (86) and skin fragility (extremely) into consideration.
Sorry to hear about your mum satchmo but, in one way, it is heartening to know that the consultant isn't driven by the age of the patient. Maybe a wait and see approach if that's possible or does the decision need to be taken now?
On a happier note, Verona is a really lovely city. There's plenty to see and do there like exploring the Romeo and Juliet themes but also the history of the real life feuding families that the play was probably based on. If you have time, take a short train trip to Vicenze where there's loads of Palladian architecture including the stunning teatro olimpico (indoor amphitheatre) or you can easily get to Lake Garda and take a boat trip or we caught a public service bus to Sirmione. It's a lovely area and I'm very envious (inserts green face:D).
I'm out for a pub meal later but it'll be moderate, probably a single glass. While I don't actually count ALD's Shaggy, I do think of them in a different light.0
