1/23 for me tonight, as I'm not drinking. Had a couple of Blackberry and Elderflower Pimms last night (very acceptable autumn version IMO) but was astounded to watch our friends who are staying for a few days drink three cases (!!!) of bottled beers. That's 44 bottles, which took four trips to my recycling bin this morning to clear from my kitchen. Neither appeared to have a hangover this morning, although they stayed in bed for 3 hours longer than me. I got up to sort all the kids and dogs out at stupid o'clock. I asked my friend's husband if they regularly drank that quantity and was told no, but TBH they seemed fairly seasoned and unaffected the next day, so I'm not convinced. My drinking was never in that league

2/24 for me and with no intention of drinking at all until at least Friday.

I normally go to my local on a Sunday evening for a couple but had an early night instead. I felt so much better or it this morning.

    2/28, please. :)
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • I drink. A lot.

I went 5 weeks without recently, and felt great.

October wasn't so good. November hasn't started well either.

I cant drink to be sociable, I've always drank to get drunk.

But after tonight, I'm going to give it a bye.

So sign me up for /forever.

  • I'm hopeless. Called at a friends last night, had a brew while she had a glass of wine, all good intentions and then, bam, I decided to join her. What a great start, not!

 Hi Roland the Roadie! I'm pretty sure everyone who stopped had a bit of a run at it first, went back to drinking and then stopped for good. I consider my 20 days in January and February (which I keep forgetting about now) as my practice run! Good luck with it.

About 7 Xmases ago I put on 9 pounds in November & December  - when I looked back on it I was over eating by about 680 calories per day for about 2 months. That might sound like a lot but it was probably only 2 mince pies and a biscuit everyday  something I would have no trouble doing :o Took me months to lose that 9 pounds.

Wow! It's so easy to put it on, isn't it. I realised a long time ago that if I didn't buy it, I didn't eat it, so normally I'm pretty stern with myself when it comes to sugary or fatty stuff in the house. At the moment I'm not buying cheddar because I can eat a ton of the stuff every day but I bulge in unattractive places when I do. Doing that, I've managed to get down to 59.9kgs by Sunday after at least a decade of hovering around 65kgs, but when I got on the scales on Monday morning - 60.5kgs as usual.

Which probably goes some way to explaining why I picked up a '4 $nickers bars for £1' pack yesterday. I ate them all. In one sitting.

Those are scary figures for what a harmless bit of chocolate can do. Strangely enough my story is similar:eek:. I was slim all my adult life until I changed my job, more sitting in meetings and more stressful so ended up rewarding myself with booze and generally less active. I gained weight slowly over a few years and eventually decided enough was enough as I hated being fat. So I came on here to control the booze first then joined SW, my first ever 'diet'.

I was never particuarly active, did a desk job from my mid-twenties onwards and never played any sport. I could eat anything I wanted until I got to 40 and then the weight very gradually started going on. Now I know I have to watch it but the odd blow out does a great deal less damage than over-eating all the time I've found. Hope so anyway after the $nickers event yesterday.

Can I join please? Had a wedding this weekend so not off to a great start. But aiming for 10 AFD this month, sounds pathetic:(

10 days AF isn't pathetic - it's 10 better than I used to have a month, every month. Go for it MissingMum!

    3/30 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
