One day at a time, the hope is I can stay sober.

Good luck, and keep posting, especially if you feel tempted - then we can rally round and cheer you on.

9/20 AFDs, and a much better day today. Took mum to a church social gathering of oldies, where they had tea, sandwiches, cake, jelly and a sing-a-long. The average oldie was around 84 and the average volunteer was 74. I have recently been thinking that as a nation we are more and more going to have pensioners caring for their aged-p's. 1. because people are having their children later and 2. because folk are living longer.

HB, great idea. I must check in with my sister and talk about a flexible rota, so we don't have to take taxis - especially as she lives 12 miles from the hospital (I'm about 4 miles away).

Very true, about older people caring for very elderly, often very poorly and/or vulnerable people, without any training and the absolute minimum of support. It's something politicans are managing to avoid thinking about at the moment but I'm not sure how much longer they will be able to.

I'm touched that you let me know the idea was helpful; I was worried I was overstepping the mark.

    13/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Calling in early with 10/20 AFDs.

Dizzy Imp, welcome. I find it can help to declare an AFD on here, then I feel obligated to keep it. The support of your DH is great, and well done for feeling able to talk to him / hear his concerns. I get defensive saying "I've really cut down" but in all honesty, I know I display signs of alcoholism when I binge, it doesn't matter whether it's "less than other people" it's still a binge when I drink 500ml of a bottle of wine on Saturday night, then start thinking about opening another bottle.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Does anyone else notice that they develop more of a sweet tooth when not drinking?

OH away today and bottle in fridge so a fail today. I think I drink to rebel, or tell people (who're not listening, or not here) that they need to be. Counselling for work stress next week and will see what she thinks. Saw her a few years ago and it really helped. Was doing so well in July, so cross with myself
    Thanks shaggy. Still 2:A
