Well something stopped me drinking tonight. I think it might be the weight I gained on holiday that's proving hard to shift. I was always more motivated by the thought of empty calories than anything else:o.

Me too! AF yesterday - chatting with a friend last night and we both decided that giving up drinking should help with our weight loss. I have a clear head this morning, which is fabulous :D

    11/20 for me

It also has the added bonus that I don't mindlessly snack on rubbish either.

    Definitely AF again today.

    6 AFDs please Shaggy.

Stopping the booze certainly helped turn around my inexorable weight gain. Pleased to say I've lost 15lbs which is a lot more than I thought I would. Last week I let myself eat whatever I want and only put 100g back on. OH is away for a few days so I'm back being very strict with myself.

    21/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    what counts as low alcohol?

Whatever a poster wants it to be. I think that's good as then there is something for everyone on this thread.

    Are you counting in units?

I always think in terms of UK units and government guidelines. However, look around at real academic research on alcohol and health to help you decide - government guidelines vary from country to country !! A few years ago there was a big kerfuffle because it turned out that UK safe drinking Guidlines were simply a guess plucked out of the air and had no scientific basis!!!! I kid you not.

Whatever helps posters cut down works I think....because heavy drinking definitely isn't good for you!

    14/22 for tonight please.

Thanks for views re ALDs. Think my "binge" drinking could be that I've been away/socialising on the weekends I've drunk more than 6 units. What I'm planning to do is still have 2 nights per week permitted drinking but not exceed 6 units. Whatever I do is still loads less than prior to Dry Jan 2014.

Like you've all said it's better awareness of alcohol consumption that matters.
