For myself I would count an ALD if
    I had moderated successfully
    so...
only drinking as much as intended
    no hangover
only spending as much as intended

    what do you think?

15/22 AFDs for me including today. I managed an AF Sunday by going to bed at 5pm after DH decided to throw a strop yesterday afternoon. I read for a while, then slept for 11 hours. Bliss.

I overdid it again on Saturday night, though. How can I delude myself so thoroughly so often that I'll be ok after 3/4s of a bottle of wine? The triumph of hope over experience! At least I didn't open another bottle this time.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Ah Satchmo, when you find the answer to that question you'll be a rich woman!

    20/31 please, Shaggy.

Another ALD yesterday and will be ALD today :) I've lost count but am not bothered about targets if I can drink moderately :)

I didn't think I could drink moderately but it turns out, I just cannot moderate drinking wine! No more wine for me, at least during week nights.

As for me, an ALD would mean 2/3 units max but it depends on what your usual drinking is like, ie to excess like I was :o Going down to 2/3 units is a big difference and I am enjoying waking up better and having more energy but being tired at night which wine took away from me. I would be tired, have a few glasses of wine and then be wide awake and drink more so I could sleep :o:o:o Opening a second bottle became a normality rather than a rarity

I've well and truly failed over the weekend and won't reach my target but declaring very early for the evening as I know I won't have a drink tonight, so 4, please.

    Not planning to drink tonight.

    5 AFDs please Shaggy.

Good to hear definitions of an ALD. It doesn't matter how each of us interprets it, It's the process of thinking it through and putting it into practice that matters.

Thanks for views on ALDs. I'm pleased with only drinking 2 nights per week but wondering if I should do 3 ALDs instead. I'm using the Drinkaware app to monitor how much I'm drinking and a bit shocked when a couple of drinks = 6 units + = binge drinking and accordingly puts me at "increasing risk" some weeks. I'm thinking that it might be better to have 3 units per night over 3 nights. I'm sure that I'm over analysing but guessing that's not a bad thing.

Think I'm on 13/22 but need to read back and double check.

Well something stopped me drinking tonight. I think it might be the weight I gained on holiday that's proving hard to shift. I was always more motivated by the thought of empty calories than anything else:o.
