I'm back from my girl's night away.
Mmmm, well I did drink, not a lot by my usual 'girls night' standards, but a lot when you haven't drunk anything for a coupke of weeks, and you've been ill. So I came over all funny the next day and had to go and lie down. To be honest I am still nor right today, I think that 'splurg' has knocked me back a bit as I feel ill again.

So my total is now 19 AF days (today will be AF) and I am pretty much decided to continue with the dryathlon in February. Being AF is just better for me. I won't rule out an occasional wine but I just feel different about drinking - it feels like when I gave up smoking, I realised I was worth more abd deserved more than smoking gave me.

Right, will catch up on the thread now...
    Trying to keep in budget.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
  • 365 days - bless you, thankyou, just read your blog and could do a little jiggedy dance for you :j

For all you wonderful people on this blog - I came on here a couple of years ago, a big mess, 6 children and lots of alcohol. One of the main people to pick me up and help me along was 365days (and Shaggy - you have always been there).

I don't know how I can explain how much it meant to me. There are simply no words.

To read that you had been diagnosed with cervical cancer 365days - made me so sad.... my sister in law fought an unsucessful battle after having a radical hysterectomy and left 4 children at the ripe old age of 34years - I had my head in a bottle of vodka and was of little help.

To read that you've been given the all clear :j :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
absolutely fantastic news. Wonderful - and thankyou. Plan something wonderful to do to celebrate when you're feeling better.

I am smiling big smiles for you :)

Thankyou as always to everyone who makes this thread - it is inspiring and humbling and a wonderful mix of people.

Ouch! That must of been hard to hear my news.

Yes I am in remission. The op removed all cancer but there is a chance it will return. I need to make decisions about wether I have radiotherapy to reduce risk of it returning. Weighing up that with the side effects of radio therapy. the op has also left me with some not so pleasant after effects!!!

Keep posting CrazyMum. When I started on here it was the posts from the 'sobers' who made me realise that there was a life after alcohol (After I had stopped thinking of them as preachy, boring know it alls who must all be as dull as ditchwater ;))

Lovely to hear that you are sober and happy! Who would of thunk it!

Checking in with 23/31 for tonight please.

It's great to hear so many positive stories of people's battles and ultimately triumphs :T

I'm one of the posters who asked about plans for February as unsure what I'm going to do. We've found Dry January pretty easy so I know I could quit alcohol for longer if I wanted to. However, I know that there'll be certain occasions where I will want a drink. I'm out tomorrow night for a colleague's leaving do and would like a drink but won't as don't want to ruin the month. My definite plan is to drink less and make it less of a habit.

Im seriously teetering on the edge of the wagon tonight. Stress of the day and feeling all upset and sorry for myself makes me want to get down the shop and buy lots of booze. Knowing how hard tomorrow will be is holding me back.
You're all an inspiration for me reading your uplifting posts

365days - really not good re. radiotherapy, I wouldn't want to have that decision to make. The radical hysterectomy is a pretty horrible operation if I remember correctly - keep smiling - you are through the worst.

Plan something really positive and brilliant to look forward to.

Greycatlady - I'd forgotten all about tomato juice, I've been enjoying lime and fizzy water but I think I might get some tomato juice in for a change :)

((Hugs)) to anyone who needs one.
