  • Hello :)

I used to frequent this thread a few years ago, and have been thinking a lot about my alcohol intake recently. I know it really helped me last time as I felt a had support here, and felt more answerable to myself by logging things here. So I'd like to join in again if that's OK? I bet there will be a few people doing this with the new year bringing in changes!

Was originally going to aim for a totally dry January, but I have a couple of engagements in the diary so I shall be realistic and set my target at 29 AFDs please. :)
Last time I tried this, I did not like tea. I'm not sure how I ever managed without a cuppa tea! So hoping to be more successful this time around.

    Happy new year!

Let me know if I sound preachy. I don't mean to; it's just I wish I'd known these things before. The slimming and dieting industry isn't really that helpful when it comes to practical ways of changing behaviours for keeps, in my opinion. They need to keep their customer base coming back for more.

Not preachy at all HB but very helpful to hear from your experiences. It seems we did the same thing but in reverse. I cut down the alcohol then when I was confident with that I overhauled the eating. To be honest I'd tried healthy eating with unhealthy drinking first and that had no effect at all!:rotfl:

I think we're agreed that both is needed.

I think it's worth explaining because I'm sure more people are motivated by giving up empty calories in booze and saving money than by health warnings. Well I am anyway.:p:D
  • Hello I was lucky enough to join this group last year for support for a dry January..Just thought I would pop back to let you know that Ive stayed dry for the whole twelve months for no other reason than Ive enjoyed being sober far more than drinking. Again thank you :j

Firstly good morning and Happy New Year all, I've been very absent from here for many reasons but hope you are all well and had a lovely Christmas and wish you all the very best for the new year.

Now then, for December I didn't hit my target but reached 21 AFDs, for January I would like to aim for 26/31

    Good luck all xx

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
