It’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts
  • 3 for me, driving tonight and late home so I'm calling an early 4 too Shaggy, far too much to do.

I've started some SMART group sessions. They're really helpful I have to say.

Did one on managing urges yesterday

    DEADS

Deny its there! Don't listen to it.

Escape - get away from whatever is making you think about it.

Avoid, accept or attack - get yourself out of the situation (leave), go with OK I feel like drinking now, but it will pass, or attack, don't give in and tell the feelings to booger off.

Distract - until your feelings pass do something different for a bit.

Substitute - can you do something to get you feeling all warm and cosy - for me its hop in the bath or make a cup of tea.

    I found it useful :)

Hugs to everyone, SMART meetings run throughout the UK, so far I've found it helpful. Fair bit of chat about HALT too.

Waves to all hugs and good luck today, x

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I've found that caffeine effects my sleep much more than alcohol tbh. I no longer drink coffee after midday - I move to tea (mostly decaffeinated tea ) decaffeinated coffee (I like the Sainsbury's Gold Roast) or hot chocolate. I find now that even if a drink one "late" coffee it seems to effect my sleep.

    Just a thought :)
