1/15 so far for December for me, yay! I am filling up on lemsips as I feel absolutely rotten, but would have stuck to the AF anyways.
What a previous poster said is true. I am drinking less than I would have done when I didn't think about how much I drink, so that's a start. I very rarely get drunk, it was just the need to have a drink every day that made me think I had to do something about it.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Today was much better, mum slept well and was still asleep at 9am when I went out for a half hour run, which is part of an Advent running challenge. Running is my "head space" and really helps, so I'm planning to run each morning from now until Christmas. It'll keep me sane, and help my fitness.
Mum was awake when I returned, and just starting to get out of bed. She had breakfast and then went back to bed as yesterday had worn her out. She stayed there until the Occupational Health people came at 2pm to do an assessment of needs. It had been arranged in October, but was incredibly well timed.
Anyway, 1/17 AFDs to start December please. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
1/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0

Hellooooo! I haven't been here for a few days but just spent a while reading through everyone's posts - great to see the thread so busy and so much interesting chat. Welcome to the new arrivals
Sorry to hear about your mum Satchmo but pleased things are a bit better now! I can relate that running helps you cope. I can't run at the moment and really miss it
And HB I can't believe you have done over 125 days AF, you are such an inspiration! :T
I finished November on 24/18. Went to the pub for tea on Friday night and had two 175ml glasses of wine. That was more than enough for me and I really enjoyed them but I didn't want any more. I felt a bit tipsy after 1, which would be unheard of before!I worked out that I haven't drank more than that in one sitting in over two months. I'm really pleased as volume rather than frequency was always my problem. I could happily not drink all week but would then go mad over the weekend and spend the rest of the week paying for it!
For December I am setting my target at 21please Shaggy. I am on antibiotics for two weeks so won't drink while on them and that will give me a head start. I will have a couple of drinks over Christmas though and so I've given myself a bit of leeway.0 -
Hey up guys sorry been a bit AWOL.

Lovely to see you back, Chardonnay! Healing vibes for you and well done on the scores.
Thank you so much for your kind words. You are right, the landmark of 125 is fast disappearing behind me, and I now have 129 under my belt. I'm actually the stage of needing to calculate the number of days now each time I think about it because I no longer remember to keep track! The rituals seems to be keeping things in balance, and this thread is my number one Go To Place for keeping me off the booze, thanks to everyone's support.
The fact that achieving my Dancing Smilies gave me the amount of inordinate pleasure that they did may make me a slightly sad person in some people's eyes but they still tickle me every time I see them! *High 5* for Shaggy!Better is good enough.0 -

Amazing achievement. Well done you.
Do you have a long term plan? i.e. stay AF as long as you can or go back to drinking in moderation?
Maybe you don't have a plan (like me)0 -

This is me too. I don't remember the last time I was drunk. Between 2 and 4 units is what I usually drink - however, I could happily do this every day. And 4 times 7 = 28 units per week - twice the recommended weekly amount..... not to mention the cost and the calories!
This thread has helped me a lot in keeping track of my units.Increasing your chances of cutting down alcohol If you talk about your goal of drinking less with a trusted friend, or even through social media, you’ll increase your chances of becoming successful at cutting down.
