6/19 for tonight please.0

8/20 AFDs tonight. Plumber was fitting two new radiators as the one in our en suite and the one in mum's bedroom weren't big enough to heat the rooms sufficiently. That took 4 hours. Only trouble was, bloke didn't check before he left that the rads were working properly, so we had to call him back. It was just a valve adjustment, thankfully. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Sounds like you and DH had a good time penny. I think what you describe sounds like 'normal' social drinking to me as a cutter down. IMO if the 'demon drink' isn't adversely affecting you socially, emotionally, physically or financially then you're in control.:)socially, emotionally, physically or financially
4 AFDs please Shaggy.
Agree with that.
However for myself (and maybe others on this thread) the issue is that drinking DOES sometimes affect me socially, emotionally, physically or financially. This thread probably wouldn't need to exist if we were all normal social drinkers :rotfl:
I think most people have the ability to sometimes control their drinking, but I believe if you're not always in control then you're never in control. When I drank more than I intended, or drank when I wasn't intending to drink, that's out of control drinking. I would often aim to have 2 drinks, and drink far more than that after starting. I got the 'thirst', the 'taste for it etc.
I see it like driving a car - if I crashed my car one in five times I drove, you'd say that I am not in control (as opposed to sometimes in control) and I would hope you wouldn't get in the car with me!
Because I am not always in control, then I am never in control as I could never predict when I would drink more than intended. So for me (and I only speak for me here), social drinking is not possible.
I thought that would make me unhappy, but a life without alcohol and importantly, rarely ever thinking about alcohol is, is often wonderful.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.0 -

It is "normal" for people to think about their alcohol consumption - just like people think about their diets, caffeine intake or how much they exercise - it's just another aspect of how people monitor and take responsibility for their own health. What do we do when we fall?
