Thank you. I kept it low this month as had some time off but was hoping I wouldn't need the extra days and would beat target.
Well done on your continued success too :T
I'm the same but I always set my target very low.:o Then again to move from daily drinking I suppose it's not that bad. This month I'm aiming for my 14 day smileys at least. So jumping from a third of a month AF to a half has to be good news.:D
Thanks for putting me on the November list Shaggy and thanks so much for keeping the scores for us for yet another month.:A
stu, you're coping well considering the stress and sadness at the moment. When's the funeral?0 -

The trouble is I didn't go through any kind of withdrawal stopping drinking and I absolutely don't want to go back to the way I used to live, but I am finding it very difficult not to want that Coffee at some point in the future.
Hi HB, I'm sorry I don't have any bright ideas about the Irish Coffee, but what I will say is that you are doing so very well and if you can try and imagine how fed up you will feel if you drink an Irish Coffee (or possibly more), maybe you need to ask yourself if it's worth it? Also, I guess you have got to where you are by taking each day as it comes. Maybe you should just try telling yourself that it's your brain playing tricks on you but you will take each day as it comes as you don't have to make any decisions about the future yet? If you keep telling yourself you can't have the Irish Coffee, it will become very important to your brain so the craving and unhelpful thoughts will continue.
That's my amateur psychology anyway and based on my own experiences, but may well be a load of rubbish!I just wanted to respond in some way. You're doing so well - be kind to yourself.

Morning 24/31
Had a wobble on Saturday night at the party. It was for my step-daughters husband's 40th. Walked through the door to be immediately greeted by my husband's ex-wife & about 20 members of her family. I don't know why I still get jittery after 16 years of marriage. Anyway, headed straight to the bar for a large glass of white wine.
I haven't beaten myself up too much about it after being AF for so many days. I have realised now that I don't need alcohol to enjoy my life and will get straight back on the wagon.0 -
26for me today please Shaggy - I know I won't be having a drink this evening.
As for November - I think back to 15, which we usually managed in previous months.
I like Maman's comments. I don't want to be a giver upper, i too enjoy a social drink - but like you say be in control of alcohol, not it be in control of me.
At the moment I'm enjoying my sober October but am looking forward to next Saturday, a trip to the local is planned.
I hope i will learn something from my October challenge, like Maman says, I will decide when and how much to drink, to enjoy it & not feel bad about it the next day. Other days I may have to use some willpower not to have a drink. I do agree with the comments about the anticipation of the drink to come, it's in the afternoon that I think i fancy a drink for whatever reason - if i get past that I haven't really been bothered in the evening (most days).
Anyway good work everyone. And good luck with whatever challenge you're on this week.
Great posts Aunty Cat and Maman, and this is how I feel. I really want to learn from my October challenge too. It has crossed my mind to stop drinking for good, but I don't think that is something I want to do just yet. I have kept a diary of my feelings etc over October so that I can look back and remember how I felt. I am going to carry on with the diary from November so that I can really track my drinking and how alcohol is making me feel.
On that note, 26/31 now please Shaggy. For November, I am going to go for 18 AFDS please. Thanks for all your hard work!0 -
Please put me down for 30 for November please Shaggy

8/13 please Shaggy.
The first weekend in a long time that I have been AF. I have managed to get loads done this weekend instead of lying there with a hangover and alcohol depression. It feels great!
Have a great Monday everyone.0 -
I'll go for a target of 20 for November, please. If I don't set a target I know I'll give in to temptation much more often.
I know I can't make October's target, but I won't use it as an excuse to drink through the week. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
24/28 AFDs today here0
