Hellooo, sorry I've been AWOL, as I had no internet connection, plus we've finally, finally, finally moved into our new apartment. Back online now, happily.
I clocked up 6 AFDs in the meantime, so I'm now on 17/20
Happy days xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

I believe it's a chicken/egg thing. Do people check in more because they are drinking less, or do they drink less because they are checking in more.
It probably doesn't matter - as long as people check in, they will drink less so it seems to me that people should just check in frequently, whether they feel like it or not.
A large part of sobriety for me is learning and continued practice of good habits.
Thanks Graeme. You are a big inspiration and your wise words always give me food for thought.
I think I check in less when I know I'm drinking too much but don't want to face up to it. Burying my head in the sand I guess!0 -

Sometimes other people quoting earlier posts makes me realise that they've rung a bell with me, too. Thank you both, Chardonnay and Graeme Carter for stating so clearly exactly what I used to feel all the time.
I was waiting for 'it' to stop, the 'habit' of drinking because ... well, that was what I did.
Sitting down to dinner on Monday night, for the first time, it didn't occur to me that I hadn't got a drink - for 20 years, the ritual first mouthful of red with dinner. I couldn't be bothered to get up and find myself an interesting soft drink which in itself surprised me as I'd stocked on up on the fruit juice flavours I treat myself to (coconut and pineapple, guava) and a few bottles of ginger beer and dandelion and burdock. Just couldn't be bothered. That's new.
It took 58 days to break the habit and I'm beginning to find that I don't think about alcohol for most of the time. Very restful in comparison to the early days.
23/30 please Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Definitely no drinking for me today. I had a (planned) drink last night but it turned into rather too many when my team won!:D
Feeling a bit fragile today, but it's all my own fault.:o
