Thanks Jake and Maman!
Am feeling a bit better today. Had an AF day yesterday so 11/18 now please Shaggy.
I'm thinking of doing Go Sober for October. I don't have many social occasions planned for October, although we may be moving house which of course is a massive upheaval in itself! I just think it would be interesting to see how I feel after a month of not drinking at all. I would like to keep a diary to chart how I feel throughout the month. I do have a problem with my kidney (not too serious thankfully and am on the waiting list for an op) and although I haven't been told not to drink, I do feel that it affects me more than the average person.
I will find it easy not to drink at home, it's the social situations that get to me. That's where I'm inclined to go over the top and drink far more than I intended to. Binge drinking I guess - at the age of 44 I should have got out of that habit by now!
Feeling more positive today though. I love this thread. I don't think it's a coincidence that I haven't been checking in so much lately and have been drinking more!
Have a good day everyone!0 -

That's how I always felt. I wondered when it was going to stop
I believe it's a chicken/egg thing. Do people check in more because they are drinking less, or do they drink less because they are checking in more.
It probably doesn't matter - as long as people check in, they will drink less so it seems to me that people should just check in frequently, whether they feel like it or not.
A large part of sobriety for me is learning and continued practice of good habits.0 -

How about you? It sounds as though you spend quite a lot of time on your own, and that doesn't suit everyone.
bad times go to my daughters to withdraw when I decide to stop the binge but once sober I do it on my own suits no one to tempt me
but living alone can be worse as no one to say stop only me can find stop button
my boyfriend not local but very supportive if I had bad day I just text him
but packing in smoking for 3 months been a deterent to not drink
100 days are doable and yes it does get easier x0 -
Afternoon :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
