I've felt horribly tired for the past three weeks and I it seems this has to do with knocking the drinking on the head; some people have suggested on other forums that it's to do with cutting out the sugar in the alcohol. Has anyone got any views on this? I could really do with getting some energy back. It's absolutely not depression, something I would recognise, it's purely physical lethargy.

I'm no help at all I'm afraid. Unlike many people who go AF I don't sleep particularly well still. I know alcohol induced sleep isn't quality sleep but I definitely nod off far more easily on drinking nights.

AF for me today and I'm claiming my first smiley!!

Thanks Maman. Acknowledgement is helpful, even if you couldn't answer the question itself.

I'm going to make a confession. When I first put that post up, it also had a bit about waking up with headaches yesterday and today and then edited it out because I'd actually found the probably answer to my question and didn't like the answer. At all. It seems both are highly likely to be PAWS, and because I'm (obviously) still in denial about the strength of my relationship with alcohol and I didn't have any acute withdrawal symptoms, I discounted PAWS. Stupid or what?!

I feel rejuvinated just knowing that, and I've already done several things I've been unable to muster the energy to do over the past three weeks. Sometimes just not feeling bewildered is enough for me to solve the problem.

Probably posting too often, but I'm sorry to say it's such a massive help in getting me through, I can't not. Just stick me on Ignore if I'm irritating you, please.
    Better is good enough.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I hope her rethinking her options has proved productive and all is calm and happy again in the wider Doo family.

She got into a great Uni to do the course she wanted through Clearing in the end - not the Uni she planned but she's happy :D

I quit for 4 months this year (to lose weight) and it didn't make me feel tired. In fact I think I have more energy when I don't drink. I guess everyone is different though!?

  • Sorry to hear your not feeling great honey bear, blxxdy unfair as your doing so well. When I go A/f first few days am pretty lethargic, probably because I don't sleep well but after after that I seem to bounce back and start sleeping really well and regain energy, I walk alot and juice fruit n veg and think this helps (always start with so much gusto). Your maybe rundown, and the blood/sugar thing is maybe also a factor. Hope you feel better soon. I'm still enjoying the book btw, had a sneaky couple of chapters at work this affa :p

Fruball, glad you'll be staying on here, be interesting to hear how the hypnotherapy goes so keep us posted and good luck with it.

    4/14 shaggy - thank you

10/20 for today please - halfway there this month. Might have miscalculated with BH weekend but fingers crossed I'll still achieve target. Well done to everyone else so far :T

9/20 AFDs but I'm ashamed of the amount I drank last night. I even poured a glass, had a sip, then went for a run but dived into the bottle on my return. Bad Satchmo.

    Back on the wagon tonight.

I've started doing 20 press ups a day in order to tone up my arms/upper body, and today went for a long walk with mum so pushing her wheelchair was also good for the upper body.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
