No update here still 2/14 - picked up a cheap ros! in shop aft work! So epic fail even before first hurdle! Won't embarrass myself any further with listing excuses for buying wine I can't afford - and I can be pretty inventive with these! Day off tomorrow (1 excuse) so will catch up on more posts along this thread and get to know you all a bit better. Thanks shaggy for updating and thank you all for warm welcome x x

Same!!! I find it very easy to talk myself into why I should have a bottle of wine when I had previously decided not to drink that day. Not good. I can't afford it either, particularly as I smoke on my drinking days :o

7/20 for today please and first smilie. Getting back into not drinking on school nights.
  • Glad it not just me fruball, but I don't know where this mindset comes from (or just don't want open up that ole can o worms)
With regards to the smoking bit have you tried an ecig? Disclaimer - I do not endorse or agree with smoking of any sort! I stopped for 5 yrs then STUPIDLY took it up again for bit, but I've got an ecig now and it does the job way better than ciggies when needed - ny cheesecake flavour in particular :p

    8/20 now.

Quite fancy one tonight so took a bath, got in my pjs and ushered Top Boy up to bed bang on 8pm, so no choice but to have another day off...
  • Quote "How many times have I wished that I hadn't drunk the night/day before" the answer would be hundreds.
When I ask myself "How many times have I wished that I did drink the night before" the answer would be never.

It seems so simple in the sober light of day, but need to get this into practice! Night all, wishing you well x x

8/20 AFDs for tonight. Fell off the wagon last night and didn't even have an excuse. I've jumped back on it tonight.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

13/31 please Shaggy. I like the symmetry of that number - how sad is that!

I flung some lemon juice into the unbearably sweet alcohol-free bottle of red I opened on Saturday to go with pizza (because we had pizza again) and it gave it a sour enough taste for me to slug down two glasses. It looked normal and that's one of the reasons I wanted to try to make it work. At this stage of the game I don't want to have to talk about going sober for life to anyone other than OH and not much with him, to be honest. I just want to know I can trust myself not to give into temptation.

It's a bit like the man who jumped out of the top floor of the Empire State Building. As he was on his way down passing all of the open windows, people could hear him saying, 'So far so good. So far so good. So far so good.'
    Better is good enough.
