1 more for me please, Shaggy :)

The weekend was rather more boozey than I intended and I feel terrible for it, plus I didn't get half as much done as I had hoped and planned... partly due to weather, but largely down to drinking-related tiredness :(

I am aiming for a SNC this week. It will be my first IF I achieve it. Anyone else want to join me?

    Fru :)

I will but that's what I generally do anyway. My plan this month had been to only drink on one night a week at the weekend. As my failed target shows I didn't manage it every weekend. That's why I've tried to set a realistic target for June.

17/20 AFDs for me. I ignored the wining voices urging me to go and get a bottle of something.

Did a 5k race this morning, which although I've been running parkruns regularly, is my first actual race for almost 10 years. I did it in 35:46 which is a PB for this year. That was mostly because the route was flat, whereas parkrun has seriously challenging hills. I also met a lovely lady from a local running group who was nervous. She didn't need to be as she did the run in 32 minutes.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

OK, I'm up to 4/TF for May (hope you don't mind me joining this late on, Shaggy) and would like to aim for 21 in June, please.

    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Yesterday I celebrated 11 years of sobriety.

No way could I go back to trying to control my drinking,if I wasn't drinking I was thinking about it.When to drink, where to buy it,how much to buy.If anyone on this forum is doing any of these things, you are in deep trouble. My Alcoholism took years to progress,it did it slowly but relentlessly and at the end it accelerated at an alarming rate.

Unfortunately few Alcoholics put the drink down before they hit rock bottom.

I used to post on this thread a lot a few years ago,now I do it rarely, simply because alcohol plays no part i my life these days.

I wish everyone well in chieving your targets.

Bravo Heath! Amazing that one day at a time builds up to weeks, months, years, etc.

I know for myself, to be free of alcohol both in my thoughts and in my body needs constant vigilance, but it is so much easier than drinking and the consequences of my drinking.
Craving drinks and denying myself, or trying to control my drinking, was no way to live.

    Good Morning!

Shaggy, can I set my target for June to 21 days please , so Alex, we can keep an eye on each other.

My DH talked with is boss yesterday and handed in his notice. Apparently the boss seemed more sad than anything else, so I think that the end of his employment there will work out well with no-one having a hissy fit or doing anything rash.

In any case he has 6 months notice, not sure whether he'll have to work it all or if he'll have a nice bit of 'gardening leave', but I think my DH will be urging the company to get someone to replace him quite quickly.
Now our target for the next few months is to be as frugal as possible and save up a good cushion of cash!
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Good morning everyone :happyhear

Shaggy can I ask you to mark me down for 9/14 please

I have been reading down through all your posts and truly what an inspirational bunch :T We all have a struggle with booze, in some shape or other, but it's the openness on how we deal with it and the non-judgemental support that is given on here is incredible - where else would you find that? :)

Update on the 0% bottles of wine:

I promise my posts from now on will be very short (but thank you for bearing with me) :) as I believe I have found the solution to my problem - only took me to 38 years to get there (ive been drinking from the age of 15) but I definitely would not have been able to do it without you lot :j

My 'get ready' fizzy placebo from Sainsbury's totally hit the spot. I had a great night and instead of 2 glasses of champagne at the reception I took 1, but...as the dinner wore on and the different courses had a different wine the old 'greedy' head went on and as there was a free bar I ended up drinking about 2 bottles of wine in total...I suffered the next day and was still feeling from the effects yesterday :( so major lesson learned there.

Because of Thursday night my wine consumption was dramatically reduced, Friday none, Saturday and Sunday I had 1 glass of wine on both evenings - I drank 0% beer the rest of the time. Pubs in NI do not cater for those who wish to remain alcohol free and drink wine instead of beer - but I am completely happy with the taste and placebo effect. Its so good to feel I dont have to watch my intake thereby satisfying that need to be holding a glass of wine/beer :j

Shaggy target for June will be 23

Good to hear that things are being treated calmly at DH's workplace gien. It doesn't change the outcome but it certainly keeps the stress down for you both.

I'm just about going to meet my target this month. Calling in for today as I don't want to just slide back into daily drinking as a habit.

    9 AFDs please Shaggy.

Thanks for setting my target of 10 for June. It'll be a tough one as I'm away for all the second half of the month. But every AF day counts so I'll just do my best.
