Not should like, Cathy Bird, just accepting that there are some things we need to put a bit off effort into before we can expect to understand or have any appreciation of them. As I've got older I've found myself listening to music less and less, and I've had to accept that opera isn't going to help with that, although I might dabble a bit more in classical music ... eventually because I used to enjoy music when I was younger. I'm more text-orientated now - it's a jolly good thing podcasts are free on itunes, and Hurrah for Radio 4!

Fair enough, Honey Bear, and it is true that some art forms demand some effort on our part. Weirdly enough though I was obsessed with opera even when I was a teenager and can't recall a time when I didn't love it. My parents liked classical music but not opera, but I can only assume they must have played some or I can't see where I got it from.

When did you see the one in German with the drag? I might be able to work out what it was. I'm curious now!! :)
  • A very late check in for me - 28/28 please

    Good luck for May everyone

Er, now you're really asking CathyBird. Wow! After I typed that first sentence I googled it, and finding the answer was super quick after all. It was Hansel and Gretel and if this link works it'll take you to some images from it which I think you'll agree are rather striking. It really did blow me away visually.

    1/31 please, Shaggy.

Honey Bear, thanks for the link - it does look visually amazing - I wish I'd seen it now! Hansel and Gretel has some lovely music in it.

Thank you Maman and HB and everybody so
    Much.

I made it to 18 in April

No drinks today 1/31 for May not sure how I am going to manage but pushing hard for the full month.

Managed to drink too much last week despite my best intentions. I have lost a whole evening.
Feel at 31 I should know better and have learnt.
I want to let myself have a few drinks but I don't seem to be able to Manage without making myself look seriously silly. Friends not cross or offended which makes a change but I did do some things I regret and shared all the thoughts in my head which I had been keeping secret.
It's now very embarrassing and I am hoping the next night will overshadow it.
So going for the month, trying to learn. I don't think I have gone a full month without alcohol since before I discovered it.

It shouldn't be too hard this week, running around with my embarrassing flashbacks but middle and later month are when the partys are happening.

Best wishes to everyone for May.

14 for April, please, Shaggy taProbably the lowest score I have ever achieved. Right, here we go for a much better May. We have put our house on the market and are intending to leave the area completely, after 17 years here, which is causing me some anguish, although I know it is the right thing to do. Also, went on hol in early April. So that is my excuse for drinking far too much wine in April.

    Onwards and upwards.

Good evening everyone. Well done to everyone on their totals for April. I've not managed to get on here much during the last month and it has really shown is my total... I ended up having just one more AF day since my last post which took me to 13/18.

I have been having a good think about May's target. I'm quite under the weather at the minute and I think alcohol is only exacerbating the issue, (which I hope to get a proper diagnosis on tomorrow). So really, I should be cutting it out totally for now. It feels unachievable thoughy, which is probably another good reason to totally cut it out.

I am going to tentatively declare a target of 25 for May please. I doubt I will reach it, but having a high target is going to make me aim high. If I go beyond 25 then that will be a bonus.

Once I have been to the doctors this week then I may revise this.

HB - congratulations on your 1000 days, that's amazing!

1/17 please shaggy. I'm hoping to exceed this month. I had far too much wine Saturday night. It was unnecessary. Still I have 2 days behind me and driving tomorrow so that will be 3.

Hope everyone had a good bh weekend. Feels like a Sunday.
