  • Thanks to all of you for your best wishes with the little project. I finish work next Friday and can't wait to get stuck in. Am sure it will be stressful, but so rewarding. First job is buying a car, lose mine next Friday :(

16 AF days for me. Not sure about drinking or not tonight as it's our Valentine's night out, due to me being away on the actual date.

Am just reading Allen Carr's book, very interesting so far though not much of way through yet. So far it's very much linked to AA thinking and removing the preconceptions of this and about what losing control over alcohol means.
  • I'm now on 7/15 for last night and weds night. Very much doubt I will make target now. Was very tempted last night for a few reasons and nearly had one drink, but stopped myself in the end....phew!

Well done Green Karen, what a challenge! I would love to do something like that but know how difficult it is having been married to a builder and lived in a "project"! However, the end results will be worth it
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

Yes these things never quite get finished do they? Am sure we will be the same as I will have to go back to work long before it's completed.

Wow Karen ,, and just think every time you have an AF day ,, it's another new roof tile or box of screws for the new house !! I'm sure we will all love hearing your progress and story of the build !

I love your thinking. I have been keeping a tab on how much I have saved on alcohol since I joined the forum last Sep (and I didn't do very well for many months after drinking every night for years, only about 6/7 AF days per month), but it's come to more than £300!

That's amazing news Green Karen! I quit my very stressful (hair falling out, IBS, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, depression, acid reflux) job at start of last year with nothing to go to. Took 3.5 months off. Now back in a job but waaaaay less stress and only 4 days a week. Though sometimes I miss the big salary, apart from that I can honestly say so glad I left! Good luck with the house - so exciting! x

Wow Luluabelle, that's pretty bad. Was certainly the right choice for you. Odd thing with my job was that I enjoyed it and it wasn't stressful, but the work-life balance was out of kilter with all the time away.
And I am so bad at making decisions, that this is out of character for me to just go and do it. No regrets though.

    17 AF days please Shaggy.
  • cannot claim another AF day. Fell off wagon last night though not badly - the boy has worked crazy hours this week so wanted to go out. Ended up having a curry and 1.5 cobras so not bad really. I think as long as can keep it under control and only have one or two drinks every now and again (had been AF for 14 days before that) then that's ok. Plus I'm not pregnant yet. Obv as soon as am I won't touch a drop.

So still on 14/26 so won't make target this month but shouldn't be far off
I want to be a writer
