One of the best things that comes from tracking consumption is that we sometimes get a bit of insight into why we drink when we didn't mean to, and realise how we can do things differently in the future. The great thing about knowing something is that we can't 'unknow' it so to speak, so that information will be safely tucked away when we want to use it. I think it can take quite some time to reach the decision to stop completely, if that's what you want to do. You've racked up 19 days not drinking and that's fantastic, so you should be very proud of that.
In the meantime, you've found out you can be pressured into drinking, so that person isn't someone you'd want to be around in the early days if you decide to bite the bullet but in the meantime you can come up with some strategies if they're going to be about and you don't want to drink.
You have very good friends, who care about you enough to text you to make sure you're safe. I'd take that as a huge positive and keep monitoring your intake. That's why at times I choose not to drink to prove I'm not an addict to alchol,,,,,,,who am I kidding ?,,,,,
Only myself , as the day I stop completely will be the day I am free!!!
One of the things that kept me drinking was the thought that it would be awful never to be able to have a drink. I couldn't get my head around that - how would I celebrate birthdays, weddings, succsesses, achievements, high days and holidays? Turns out - it's perfectly possible, and I should have realised that because loads of people, literally millions, do. If you've ever been out for the evening and not been able to drink because you're taking prescribed medication that means you can't drink, or you're the designated driver - it's fine. We cope. We even manage to enjoy ourselves.
I think I was just lazy about alcohol - it was easier to drink than not, so I did.
Hang on in there everyone doing Dry January - you've only got a couple of evenings to go and you've done it! Rooting for you.
30/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

I am still getting the hang of posting so not sure if I have done it right
Welcome.
Is that 2 days for Jan and 28 for Feb?What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
