Evening all, 4/22 for tonight for me and 3 for OH, I am over the moon about this because one of the main reasons for me cutting down was to try and get him to slow down a bit. We have made a pact that he won't drink Monday to Friday in January.

    7/25 AFDs today
  • The OH hinted at having a bottle of wine tonight, as that's us both off for a couple of days.

    Decided to stay AF.

10/30 AF, might as well get the yearly one kicked off, so 10/364 too.

Ok i caved tonight. So i need to retract my af entry for tonight. Sorry Shaggy. Im still on 9/22.
However a friend did come round. Between us we had half a bottle of wine with lots of ice. So i feel absolutely fine. Sensible drinking. Got half a bottle left which I'm now earmarking for Sat night. Im driving Friday and don't want to drink tomorrow now.

    Good morning everyone,

    11 AFD please Shaggy

Had some news yesterday which knocked me sideways. 18 months ago I would have opened a bottle and more. I am amazed at how far my resolve has come, because despite the fact I was pretty desperate I resisted and the result is I have a clear head this morning to allow me to focus on more important issues.

Morning all, 9/21 for me please. I can report that this is progress too since I'm having lunch with friends and up until a couple of months ago I would have held off calling it till after the lunch on the off-chance that someone suggested we have a drink, but I can say in all confidence today I don't plan to.

Had my first wobble earlier this evening. My DW is away working and I thought 'I could have a sneaky one!' I don't think I even particularly wanted one just realised I could! Even at 44 there is that child in me, like the one reaching into the biscuit tin.

Sipping a diluted orange and fizzy water, and quite happy with that!

It's insidious, isn't it, that little voice, DProvan? Well done for deciding what you actually needed was orange and fizzy water. The vacillating is what's so exhausting; once the decision's made it's very straightforward. Well done.

I never suggested OH should cut down, he just did. I think it had something to do with not being encouraged to drink by someone else who was sloshing it back (me) but it was entirely his choice. I doubt that he'd ever say he was concerned about the amount we both used to drink, either. I'm just really, really pleased that he's done so - most of the time!

Well done, Roland. I like the fact that your OH 'hinted' rather than open it and pour one (or even two). Just a tiny bit of willpower goes a long, long way.

Sorry to hear you've had disturbing news, Arkers. I hope it's resolved very quickly.

It's lovely to see the thread so busy.

    12/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
