Green Karen, don't feel like that because Dry January is a pretty popular thing and in fact it can be a good way to kick off the year but it's way more important for you to work out something you can sustain over time. On this thread and the savings threads elsewhere on MSE you do see some people who set big targets for themselves and they meet them for a bit and then they seem to get discouraged and just vanish. I've always thought it is better to set a lowish target and beat it, and then slowly to work up to a higher target - or not - whatever works, really. The main thing is always to keep going, and not slide back into old bad habits, because they're just so hard to escape when you are mired in them. That's my two bobs' worth, anyway.0 -
Will definitely be AF tonight so declaring early on 4/14 please Shaggy0

I'm with Cathybird on this. It isn't a competition against the other posters, it's about being realistic about what you can achieve and having the stamina to last the month with a bit of everyone cheering each other on.
9/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Afternoon :hello:
1 more AFD for yesterday.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hi,
I would like to join this January drink free challenge. I had a four-day session from Hogmanay to 3rd January and feel it's now time to address my drinking and a good start would be dry free days for the remaining days of January.
So please can you add me to the list, at 2/28....and you're on the list! Good Luck!

Green Karen I'm with them - it's not a competition. TBH I hardly ever register other posters totals, I'm just focused on myself! What do we do when we fall? I understand how you feel Green Karen. I'm proud of others with their brilliant totals and I'm really pleased for them. It makes me mindful of my own totals in comparison but just enough to keep me on track.
No plans to drink today. Last week I managed all four nights but this week is much more social.
5 AFDs please Shaggy.0
