It's a long list! I've included everyone who racked up at least one day from Shaggy's monthly summary posts so not by trawling through the whole thread. If you posted after she'd done her final post for that month those extra days aren't included. (I got caught out that way!)

I've also included everyone's posts for December up to this one, so if anyone racks up any more I'll edit their totals to add tonight or any others they may not have posted yet.

If there are any errors let me know and I'll correct them.

I think they're amazing totals given that they're all days on which most of us would probably have quite liked to have a drink or three, and we didn't. Huge congratulations all round!

Thank u for doing that HB. Makes for interesting reading. Hope it didn't take you too long.

I'm home now after a good night out. Probably my first AF new years since i was last pregnant 8 years ago. I can't remember one since. Not saying there wasn't but i can't recall it.

    Its 2017!!

Nowhere near as long as I thought it might Cuppa Tea once I'd worked out a system for how to do it. It was a useful exercise in reflecting on the year, too.

Flipping through the little notebook I use to record my weight and measurements this morning I found an entry in July 2012 that said I'd given up drinking. Weird, I thought, I'd no idea I'd been AF for four and a half years, I thought it was two and a half. So I double-checked and it was 2014. But it just goes to show, I'd been trying to stop for at least two years before I actually managed it, and I'd forgotten that. That mantra, never give up giving up is absolutely true because I'm absolutely certain that I couldn't have succeeded the final time if I hadn't tried and failed at least a couple of times that I know about now, first, to learn that I needed to stack up some support to keep me going, like this thread.

Good luck to everyone who's doing Dry January.

    1/31 please, Shaggy.

Thanks for the yearly count HB, I'd come back to see how many days I'd managed and the total was waiting for me :)

I tailed off a lot towards the end of the year, so 2017 is a new start, setting a target of 23 for January :)

    Hi Can I join in?

I have started to pour a glass of wine as a way to switch off after work and it has become a habit I'd like to break.

I'd like to try dry January but drank after midnight last night so my target would be 30/31 dry days

    Wishing you all a Happy & Healthy 2017 :j

Thanks for the annual totals HB :T

Can I set a target of 14 AFD's for January please Shaggy?

Not as high as most of you but a slight increase on my usual 12 ;) I am also aiming to drink less on non-AF days :)

    Happy New Year all!

Thanks so much for the totals HB. I'm pleased with how close I've come to half the year AF. It's all down to the thread. When I started I didn't have any AF days.:o

Welcome to new joiners and any lurkers. All you need to do is set a target you'd like for January (ideally in bold and red) and then post how you're getting on. If you'd prefer then go target free and just build a day at a time.:)
  • Stuck on 9/10 AF days but it's better than none for December (which is what I am guessing would have been my running total for last year).
Time of reflection now, 2016 gone....
Happy New Year to everyone x
