What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Hi everyone

Just been having a read back and want to join again for August.

I am going to go for 10 days for August which embarrassingly is a stretch for me :o but I have to stop giving myself excuses

My plan is to not drink on skool days or anyday where it is just me which is most nights so I should beat my target easily :rotfl:

I think I am really starting to cross the line where this becomes not just a habit but a problem habit. Ill give you an example I am suffering at the moment with some menopausal symptoms and would like to discuss taking something for it with the doctor but I wont go as I am confident they will want to take blood tests and I dont want my drinking to be so obviously highlighted :(

So before I go for the dreaded blood test I would like to have a calm August. I don't have much planned so its quite a good month for me to be selfish and focus on this for a while.

Looking forward to diving in and chatting with you all again

Well I made it last night, so I am feeling a bit happier to be at 12/16 after such a bad start to the month. I did find that Tues/Wed were the hardest days. Getting through last night seemed easier after not partaking on Tues or Weds.

I am planning on having a couple tonight just because it is Friday and I want to!
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

Well done lucy.:T I'm sure you'll enjoy your drink tonight more because you've planned it and not just 'given in' IYSWIM.

I had a single, small:eek: glass with lunch out yesterday.

    27 AFDs please Shaggy.

I can't say I got a lot of help from the medical profession with the menopause, and found reading around the subject online and through the library a lot more helpful than going to the see my GP, much as like him, and sympathetic as he was. My drinking wasn't even mentioned as an issue, ever, by any medical professional, and I never lied about it, in fact I talked about it as potentially problematic and it was ignored. I never asked for help with it, though which was a bit silly of me, looking back on it but that's probably pretty normal.

When I broke my wrist the anaesthetist asked how much I drank. She needed to know because it affects the body's ability to deal with what she needed to pump into me to get me under and then wake up again safely, so, safety first and all that, I told her. She told me I was the first person who said they drank more than the recommended maximum! An interesting discussion ensued, me doped up on the trolley, her in her scrubs, no judgements, no lectures, just interesting stuff. They're not there to judge you, they're there to help you.

I'm not sure if they can tell a lot about alcohol consumption from a blood test if they're not looking for it anyway so I wouldn't let that stop you from contacting your surgery. September is their busiest time of year, too, so I'd think about making that call sooner or later. I've PMed with some information I wish I'd had really early on to save you some time.
