Roll up, Roll up. A New Month, A New Challenge.SET YOUR26 days up for grabs!
Everyone Welcome!!!What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Still here!
Sunday and Monday were meant to be AF but I've just finished working seven days straight and my will power was severely lacking!
Day off today and I thought I had an appointment this evening, that may have set me off on the AF days, however when I checked, it's tomorrow night, after work.
Although I haven't made a AF day yet, I am thinking more about my drinking and I have cut down a little and I know once I get a AF day, it will spur me on.

Day 3 for me, even my daughter was surprised after today, rather stressful to say the least. Saturday will be a test though, having a BBQ for my late daughters birthday we do every year and I get terribly tiddled and then go on a downer but this year I'm really determined not to drink and remember her beautiful face. I don't want to say that I'll never drink again but can't seem to have one glass as people suggest have to drink the bottle so waiting for the good things to come out of non-drinking, find I really get bored, have started looking at peoples blogs. Sorry didn't mean to write so much. GOOD LUCK WALES XXX
Thank you for your welcome people xxx0 -

Hope you have a great celebration Saturday in your daughters memory. Sounds indeed as if there is going to be a massive test of your resolve.
Whilst me not drinking is hard enough, managing peoples expectations of my drinking - or not drinking - is equally problematic. I have had to come up with all sorts of reasons over last 7 months to not start drinking in social situations.
You can make non alcoholic cocktails which makes you look like you may be drinking and so avoids the questions, then expected explanation which people who are drinking get unnerved by. Sometimes when I get asked if I'm not drinking I say "Yes Rupert & I are trying for a baby and we're worried about our eggs" (both male and 40). People get embarrassed or laugh but generally drop it. Or I say I'm having one later. As people get tipsy, louder and more self centred they soon forget whether I'm drinking or not. Non alcoholic beers poured into a glass helps and creates illusion of "joining in".
Failing that, I put off drinking for as long as possible so any potential damage is minimised. The other excuse I use is I say I have a dental infection and am on an antibiotic called Metronidazole which causes severe vomiting if mixed with alcohol. It generally is the easiest reason.
Rupert is a pseudonym.
Unfortunately, wedding at weekend is already causing me stress and anxiety. In recent months Ive drank less & less often & used the antibiotic excuse endless times. All my in laws will be there (I've married VERY well) and although we are very much seen as the "good time boys", these days I go from 0 to 60 in 8 seconds when I drink. I actually have an antibiotic to take to stop me drinking as it will make me vomit but managing the questions without self titling myself as an alcoholic will be hard.
Anyway, poorly Mac is back so I am happy. Haven't drank tonight but already posted this morning. Major pull to drink Prosecco this beautiful evening was side stepped courtesy of more Cheese & biscuits.
