...Yesterday OH was in a foul mood and I ventured to broach it. As ever, his infernal family were at the root of it.... Last night we had some of his family for dinner so I was designated driver again and he got drunk and had puddings and chocolate.
I'm assuming it was just me that had visions of Hannibal Lecter? Fab way to get revenge on the outlaws though. No offense intended x
I had a small glass of red wine after dinner sitting in the sunshine, discussing bathroom choices for the house restoration with DH. I say discussing, but it was rather more like a mini war, with both of us sniping and poo-pooing the other's suggestions. Not sure if the wine aggravated the situation, but I definitely felt belligerent, so I'd guess so.0 -

I think HB would concur that being AF will get less boring over time, it'll be normal and being pleased with being in control (and the promise of the morning after) will be enough.
I had a treat free evening yesterday cathy. I almost gave in but had a healthy pear instead.
Do you, I'm not sure being AF is boring. It's very tough in the beginning because everything around you tells you you should be slinging it back with the rest of them, they get !!!!!! and you remain sober, so they're incredibly boring once they're v. !!!!!!, but then it's time for a good night's sleep without waking up feeling pants and then waking up with a clear head.
Challenging, irritating at times, finding other people who you normally like boring, but life overall was not boring at all in the early days.
I'm still very conscious that it would be a matter of moments to sling one back myself and go back to being exactly the same tedious, self-centered and ultimatley aggressive person I always was on the lash so I'm not going to say I'd never, ever go back to drinking, but I really, really hope I never do. By comparison that life, and the way I behaved - that was boring.
Well done on the pear. I wish I'd had a ripe one to hand because I did scoff some chocolate, although I managed to resist the Twinks earlier.I had a small glass of red wine after dinner sitting in the sunshine, discussing bathroom choices for the house restoration with DH. 'Ah yes, I remember it well .... '
One small glass shouldn't but you know yourself, so if you think it did, it probably did. I, however, can't blame the wine when I got irritated by OH and snapped at him repeatedly last night; that was just me getting ansty. It would be useful to blame it on the booze, but sadly I can't. I've apologised, he's been very nice about it. I don't deserve him, I really don't.
25/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Lol - I never noticed I'd done that! They are too old too eat! :-)
It struck me the other day when Maman, DizzyImp & HoneyBear were inputing about "treats" & rewarding yourself that the ultimate treat we all must be having everyday presently is the treat of not waking up, feeling like death, vomitting +/-, swallowing down handfuls of painkillers & Diorylite and wasting our days by being hungover and gnarly.
Yesterday, OH & I went out on the coast. Great day together. The tensions of the last week evaporated and we were back to how we were. Of course, with this is the potential for us to slip into our tried & tested "laddish" behaviours of having a great time then making the time even better by lubricating it with a cocktail or bottle of something fizzy then drinking too much. As I was designated driver that excluded me from even the potential idea and when I asked OH if he wanted a glass of wine he only had a small one. He only had 2 small glasses over the course of the afternoon despite running into some old friends & retiring to another bar for an hour or so later on. And that was him for the day. No full bottle of wine to himself when we got in.
Has anyone heard anything of Shaggy? He doesn't seem to have posted for 4/5 days?
17/31 AF to report.

I'm so sorry HB, I now realise how that came across. What I meant was that manpants might feel he was on the outside of his social group when he was sober in the pub and they weren't so would have a boring evening to start with but he would find in time that you can meet up and chat with people and have fun without the booze. I know some people on here have avoided social occasions to start with rather than join in with the drinking. Then, as you've said there's the other end of the scale where the people you meet have so much to drink that they are boring. I do hope I didn't cause offence, certainly not intended.:)
Shaggy's on holiday manpants. I think she's back next week.
Back on the wagon today.
