Evening
Well I am pleased to say that tonight was not the predicted drinking night as I didn't get back till 9pm and there was no way it was worth drinking for an hour or two max. :j
On top of this I am at work very early tomorrow and it will be a lot easier without the groggyness
So its 4 for me0 -
Hey everyone
Thanks for the welcome backs and good lucks at fat class. In my first week I lost 6lb. Well chuffed with that.
6 AF please Shaggy
Manpants - your post do make me chuckle at times. Jo v's Joe!:rotfl:A:rotfl:
On a serious note I do doth my cap to you, in that you can attend so many social engagements and commit to being driver. I've not got there yet, I've rarely been to a social occasion where I haven't drank. Mr Mackeroo is more than happy to be driver. Maybe one day it will happen. It’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0 -
.....after just five weeks I've lost a stone in weight, the main reason is not drinking empty calories and then raiding fridge after all will power has gone!!!
Amazing achievement! Well done :-)
12/31 AF now.
Today I have had to pass off as a "cheat" day as I've been hungover all day. Eaten chips and had bread products too. No gym either.

Well done on knowing it wasn't worth drinking for an hour after you got back. That's a mindset change and it gets easier once you've had one successful night off the booze when you normally have had a few.Hey everyone

:T :T :T I must say that, even now, volunteering to drive makes my life much, much easier. At the end of the evening when OH wants to stay on and have more fun, pointing out that I'm sober and tired means he's generally much more amenable to leaving. When I drank we were always, always, always the last to leave.Today I have had to pass off as a "cheat" day as I've been hungover all day. Eaten chips and had bread products too. No gym either.
I know you're into the 'no carbs' thing, ManPants so I realise that's symptomatic of you having a few and a good excuse to beat yourself up. I'd skip the beating up and just remember how disappointed you are with yourself for next time you're tempted.
'Recovery Breakfasts' were a regular feature here after tying one on, and as there's a Wevverspoons right around the corner means that I didn't even have to fumble my way to the freezer to dig the bacon and chipolatas out. I still occasionally treat OH to one when he's in need, and think of my own as a reward for being good. Everyone deserves a full English occasionally.
20/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
One glass of wine - one glass, and I had a rubbish night. That's definitely it for alcohol after 7pm...

Dizzy, do you mean rubbish as in you had rubbish sleep? ... I've had a few patchy nights recently and sometimes when I haven't drunk a drop - I think when it gets warm and it gets light much earlier it can be harder to get a good nights' sleep. Not saying it wasn't the wine obviously, but there could be other factors as well? ...0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Sorry I haven't checked in, but I have stuck to my guns all week as I know I'll imbibe when on holiday.
18 AFD's in total so far.
I had a very interesting conversation with a friend of mine at the gym today. I spoke about my issues and relationship with alcohol over the years. She nearly started crying, and said to me that she felt she was struggling with her use of booze. She said she'd sat on her own in the house last night, and drank a bottle of wine with a few beer chasers, and that she does that more often then not. I felt like it could have been me talking. I said that it was never too late to moderate her behaviour, and the fact that she recognised this was absolutely the first step in the process.
She sent me a text afterwards saying that I was the first person she'd been totally honest with. I replied there but the grace of God, and that I understood how she felt.
I still get that itch, and if it wasn't for me wanting to lose weight then I'm still not sure I would be there yet. I'm nearly at target in terms of my weight and I think this will be the true test for me. I hope and pray I can continue with my moderation, and I can support my friend with her journey.
Thanks guys,
