Thanks HoneyBear. I wasn't regaling the story to illustrate how funny it was but actually how truly awful it was. And not just that incident; endless other ones where I have woken up and been told about terrible things I've done all due to alcohol. I often had no recall of them. I have had to similarly remove myself off social media due to witty comments - under the influence - that are so close to the knuckle they are bordering on offensive. Waking up in the morning and not gasping in horror at what I've done is wonderful.

Know that blank feeling in the morning and the number of times I have to watch tv programmes on the planner twice as I have no idea what happened

Welcome back, Baileys and Mackeroo! It's true about the waking up thing - I still love, love, love waking up without a headache, or feeling groggy because I've over-indulged and I don't mind getting up any more. I used to put it off as long as possible, so that's a huge change for me.

Ah, Maman, those times when the social whirl keeps us eating and drinking more than we know we should, and the wrong stuff to boot. I still eat some wrong stuff, though, even without the excuse of booze.

17/31 please, Shaggy. I hope the hols are going well.

oh yes this morning I woke up with no feelings of dread at all and could tell you what happened in all the soaps :rotfl:

Working away tonight so have only just arrived at my hotel. This means i will grab something to eat with some cordial then it will be an early night for me.

So I am proudly calling 2 please shaggy

Baileysonice, you used to be my favourite drink for about 15 years. I used to drink very large measures atva time. Now i can take it or leave it and never more than a small glass.

    +1 pls Shaggy.

    Morning All

Another AF night to report taking me to 11/31 AF so far.

More amazingly, OH had an AF night with me and I got him out for a brisk walk too. I woke up clear headed and fresh and up to make OH a healthy breakfast & also lunch to take to work. (Getting him to diet and not drink is a 2 man job!).

I am looking forward to two social engagements today. A friend is visiting for a spot of lunch as she is caravanning nearby & tonight I am revisiting my past and going out to dinner with some former work colleagues. Lunch will be fine as that is indoors and booze free but tonight starts off in a cocktail bar followed by a restaurant & as it is a small intimate affair, my non drinking (which will be viewed as uncharacteristic and lead to questions as to whether I'm pregnant!) will be difficult.

Oh well, onward & upward. The main thing is that I'm thinking about the process of "not drinking" rather than looking forward to drinking.

You're doing rally well, ManPants and I hope tonight is easy on your liver whatever happens. Well done on making progress with your OH's life choices.

The thing about posting on social media when drunk, Ah Yes. Recognise that. There was rather a lot of flashing up the computer and deleting posts etc in the last year or so of my drinking, maybe longer. And although OH and I watched boxed sets of West Wing, The Wire and The Sopranos when I was on the booze, I rather suspect that if I rewatched them now it would be like seeing them for the first time. Although I don't think I'd bother with The Sopranos second time around.

Welcome back, Dizzy! I'm temporarily a bit absent else-thread ;), so it's great to know your still about and resisting temptation sometimes.

So pleased that last night went well. Every one counts!
I'd suggest you have a plan for this evening.
I don't know whether it's just your OH that's trying to lose weight but I'd suggest you think up non-alcoholic drinks that you intend to order. There are loads out there but you need to be aware that many are high calorie. Personally I stick to fizzy water or slimline tonic but you might want to treat yourself to a cocktail. Also, think through what to tell friends in advance, like a visualisation technique. You could just come clean and say you've been drinking too much so determined to cut back or explain it away as a health kick or whatever you find easiest.

I'm not drinking today. Determined to eat and drink as healthily as possible to make up for last week's lapses.

    6 AFDs please Shaggy.
