    Good morning everyone,

2 AFD for me please Shaggy.
ManPants (MP:p) loving the new identity. You sounded really positive in your latest post. If you don't mind me saying but you seem to be in control when you have an action plan...eg being the duty driver and preparing the drinks at the bar:D. Do you have any gym/fitness plans? Do you have a dog or could you borrow one, as I find that my terriorist (Jack russel terrier!) demands a walk and this makes me move more!

Piggles - sending flea be-gone vibes. I hope the latest treatment works for you..
Sandy - I have seen you over on the SW thread. There are a few of us now that are on both.

Have a lovely day everyone, enjoy the "heatwave,":rotfl:

They are fab memories, Arkers, and I wouldn't be without them for all the tea in China (one of many countries I never visited), but I've lost my wanderlust completely after a lot of travelling. I like doing the 24 hour Brittany Ferries trip to Roscoff and I know I'll enjoy Portugal in June but what I really love is being at home with my OH, or just being here when he's away which is he for 48 hours at the moment. (His team was doing Leicester a favour last night.) Fine by me. I can get on with practising my newly acquired carpentry skills without him having the vapours over the sawdust - it's sunny but too cold to do it outside. I'm pretty antisocial if the truth be known, but I've got myself into a place where I can cope and even enjoy most things at the moment, mainly by the judicious use of the word, 'No.' Delivered with a smile, and a thank you for the invitation and a reason - the dog, already busy, the music will be too loud ... whatever.

I said yes but couldn't drink the glass the waiter poured me! I just didn't want it and didn't drink it, and went home sober. The brakes just went on. It's a new thing with me, most welcome though.

Wow! After a couple I could never have resisted, so that's marvellous, CathyBird! Long may it last.

Welcome Roland the Roadie! Once you get a bit of sober momentum it should make serious inroads breaking the habit slightly easier. Can you volunteer to stay on nights for a while to keep you away from tempation?

Piggles, that's a real bummer. Sorry you can't get on top and stay on top of the hoppers. I loathe them, so I feel your pain from grim experience. I think 10/12 for April under the circumstances is a huge achievement.

Welome Baja. I hope the AA meetings are helpful. Walking into your first one takes a heck of a lot of courage (a lot more than I had, to be honest) so good luck with it. Posting here daily might help - it certainly does for me.

Debjay, I stand in awe of your 2.5 stone, I really do, and I hope the last 7lbs melt away before your holiday.

I rather think I've grown back into a pair of jeans that were way too tight, way to baggy and would probably fit perfectly if I tried them on. I'd rather they were baggy despite the eye-watering cost. (They a brand of jeans for older women and worth every penny, before anyone says anything.)

Keep on keeping on, ManPants, and keep posting. You'll get there.

    3/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Honey Bear, I can (sadly) remember countless occasions where I kept on drinking well past the two mark and in fact was often the drunkest person at the table, sometimes the only drunk person at the table, to my shame, and the only good thing you can say about that is at least I can remember it! I never got so drunk that it all became a blur. It's never been normal for me to stop after two - at that point I've always wanted to keep going (and usually did). So I am chuffed to bits by this apparent change in the internal mechanisms. I'm certain it's because of this thread - it's having days off during the week wot has done it. I owe all of you a great big thank you :)

ManPants, I so agree with Honey Bear - keep on keeping on, and keep posting. :)

Piggles1 - syns are something SW have devised whereby you can have 'treats.' You are allowed between 5 - 15 a day to spend on a variety of things e.g 175ml of white wine is 6 syns. Not drinking allows me to spend the syns on other things e.g. Chocolate or crisps, if I want them, it's all about being on a diet but not feeling like you're missing out.

Ah thanks Sandypan. Yes i found a little bit of info about it, but not the way of calculating it. If 175ml of wine is 6 syns, that's a lot for two large glasses. I'm not dieting but it's interesting to know how many treats you (as in one) use up by drinking.

thanks Arkers :) sunny here too, mostly. I've got a day of shifting furniture about and getting everything off the floor.

Thanks Honey Bear :) It's not me dealing with the fleas though, it's the pesticide people.

But yeh, it's good when it gets to the end of the month and all the struggles add up to a reasonable total despite the stuff I've had to deal with.

    1/10 AFD please shaggy :)

That's brilliant to get to that point cathybird :)

I did manage it once last autumn, but not this year yet. It is the internal mechanism isn't it. I'm still in the 'keep going' state but as you say, more days off in the week and this thread definitely helps. Having one day AF and then drinking again doesn't help.

Thanks Piggles :) I do think you have been through a lot of stress and upheaval recently, which makes life much more difficult, and am sure you will find cutting back much easier once all that settles down, which I hope will be soon.
