    Good morning everyone,

Had a couple of G&Ts on Saturday, but nothing last night. Therefore, 1AFD for last night please Shaggy.
Sandy, I have been following SW since mid-Sept. I am now 3stone down and only 7lbs until I reach my target weight. Alcohol has been a major part of shifting the flab, and I try to keep my syns for a drink or two! I am not going to class, and I have found the SW MSE thread invaluable - have you subscribed?

HB - you sound as if you have some amazing memories of your travels! I am not a good socialiser and whereas some people go out to the opening of an envelope I hate it! I guess I don't necessarily trust myself. I still have nightmares of the embarrassing moment at my brother's wedding.....uurrrghh!

Have a good Monday, Arkers x

I think we're so programmed into believing that we should be all-or-nothing, that success is a win-or-lose thing, totally one or the other, that we forget that steady changes to bad habits are probably a much better solution in the long run. I know it don't feel quite right for me yet, and I'm not really sure I'm ready to stop being disappointed in myself for over-indulging, whether it's chocolate or was the booze, but CathyBird, what you've said has been really helpful for me this morning. Every single time I don't over-indulge, or practise a litle self-discipline, is a massive change from where I was not too long ago. It take time to put the juggernaut into reverse.

Aw thanks, Honey Bear - what you write is invariably helpful for me so glad it works the other way a bit as well! I'm sure it's true though, it is little changes over time that add up in life, rather than dramatic ones (mostly).

On that note I was out with friends last night - same thing happened, I had a glass of prosecco and then a glass of white wine with dinner and then they proposed getting a second bottle of white wine, I said yes but couldn't drink the glass the waiter poured me! I just didn't want it and didn't drink it, and went home sober. The brakes just went on. It's a new thing with me, most welcome though.

Having said that am declaring today an AFD so it's 1/15 for me please Shaggy :) And also a much-needed treat-free day.

    Morning Everyone

Well firstly I need to report that i drank yesterday. Plans changed due to various people thinking the other had booked this particular country pub to an unsuccessful end, so we went to a local pub in town instead. I had lunch with soda water, then in hour 4 i crumbled and had a few double vodkas. I think i was so relieved to get a drink i immediately caught up to the drunk level of everyone else. Thankfully we stopped and came home before any damage could be done.
Of course, I was then up half the night drinking water by the gallon to diminish the likely hangover.

Back on AF today. Father In Law coming for dinner tonight which means I will be in charge of the bar and as such give him a large Gin and myself soda water with lime masquerading as a Gin.

Still 30 potential AF days left so may I request 30/31 AF for May please Shaggy?

    Have a fab holiday CuppaTea.

What an amazing story HoneyBear. I love Antigua, one of my favourite caribbean destinations. I can recollect being in a sunken hot tub overlooking the caribbean waters whilst a butler brought us endless glasses of champagne and just feeling blissfully happy and fortunate. Partner & I stayed on a friends yacht in the Mediterranean 12 years ago so I really "get" the part where you say its not as glam as it sounds. I think your yacht guests may have been financially echelons above where we were though. Funnily enough we were actually talking about that yacht holiday yesterday which led on from a discussion about the "Rio" yacht being half sunk then salvaged & refurbished. I was a child when Duran Duran were big though. :rotfl:

0/31 AF so far. This will change though. :T

Well done Arkers on your weight loss. And your memories of your brothers wedding I can relate sooooo well on so many weddings I've attended myself. And Cathybird........well done on finding those brakes. Prosecco is the work of the devil I'm starting to think.

Hope you all have a fabulous Bank Holiday. Thank you for listening and your words of encouragement as ever. Sometimes I sit here reading your posts and get tears of emotion at peoples kindness towards me and each other. I don't insincerely say thank you.

PS Honey Bear, re waking up in your own bed, me too! In fact it is becoming increasingly difficult to prise me out of the comfort of my own house at all but as to staying with other people somewhere else in the country, no. :) I haven't got any travel plans at the mo either due to my savings goals so these things are only likely to get more so.

ManPants, well done on at least resisting for a bit and also coming home before damage was done. I reckon that's progress? ...

I started watching the Louis Theroux documentary last night - very sad.

    Hi folks.
Been thinking about giving up alcohol for a while now, and have now decided to take the plunge.
Sign me up for 31 days in May if you could Shaggy, and we'll see how it goes from there.

2/31 so far. I'm on nights just now so it's easy. :)

    Afternoon all :)

Things are still really difficult here. There's fleas in my hair, in all my clothes, in my bed. I can't hoover at all because you have to leave the chemical down and not hoover it up. Suits me :D Second treatment *should* be on its way. I wish they'd go away :( it's really unrelaxing.

I had one more AFD saturday, which I'm quite proud of, even though I missed my target, it was at the end of a long week drinking every night. I just didn't feel like drinking really.

My tolerance is huge still, 7-9 units if I do drink. That's still better than it was previously, but up to the level of last year.

I'm hoping May turns out a bit better and I can start to put things in my home where they're meant to go. They still aren't because of the disruption, over two months since I moved in!

I want to get my life in order but it can't be yet until the blasted pests are gone.

ManPants congrats on the new username!

Sandypan how do you work out what a syn is? I've done a search but I can't make sense of it.

10/12 AFD for April please shaggy. Thanks for the shiny new month tally :)

Sandy, I echo Arkers regarding SW and the support on the MSE thread. I've been following SW since mid Nov and have lost 2.5 stone with 7lb to reach my target of 3 stone. I'm also going it alone without joining a group or online. On holiday in 6 weeks so would love to get there before then. Not sure if it's doable though. Good luck on your SW journey. Well done to Arkers :T
Kicking May off with 1/21 please.

    Afternoon all,

Arkers and debjay - I've subscribed to the SW thread as an extra incentive, source of support and inspiration, thanks for the heads up. Brilliant weight losses for you both, I think for me both threads go hand in hand at the moment.

Piggles1 - syns are something SW have devised whereby you can have 'treats.' You are allowed between 5 - 15 a day to spend on a variety of things e.g 175ml of white wine is 6 syns. Not drinking allows me to spend the syns on other things e.g. Chocolate or crisps, if I want them, it's all about being on a diet but not feeling like you're missing out.
