I'm trying to buy my wife a new smartphone for her birthday. Budget about £150.

She likes the 4s but reading reviews I think the Moto G looks good value. Can you please advise which you would buy.

Or would you advise something else.

Looking for a good camera, easy on screen texting, good internet access.

Must be PAYG

Thanks

Where have you seen a new 4s for £150?

Your last two requirements are meaningless.
Camera is definitely not the strong side of Moto G, but it's in absolutely different price range than 4s. However, it's probably the best you can get new for £150.

I thought I could get the Apple 4s new for £180. Have I got this wrong?

Probably what the phone is actually worth (actually, it's probably worth less) but unfortunately Apple charge £349 for it!:D.

To be honest, unless you simply must have Apple's operating system (IOS) then the Moto G for £99 from Tesco is a far better, more sensible, choice. But that's for the 8GB version (which is all the storage the 4S has btw) - the 16GB version comes in at £129. HTH.

Could any of you explain the difference between a Moto G and a Samsung Galaxy. Which version of the Galaxy could I get for £150 and would you say this was better then the Moto G?

There isn't a Samsung Galaxy anywhere near £150 that is anywhere near s good as the Moto G. Trust me, Google now own Motorola and the Moto G is imo an attempt to sew up the budget-mid Android phone market plus at the same time render cheap Windows phones redundant. Not forgetting making the iPhones look even more ludicrously overpriced. The screen on the Moto G is bigger than the Iphone 5S (Apple's flagship model costing £549!) as well as having a higher PPI and resolution. Says it all, really. Get the Moto G and let Google 'sponsor' your smartphone experience! :D

    Ace 2 is ~£150.
    Ace 3 is ~180

Use gsmarena to compare with Moto G and you'll see what is better.

The Moto G is in a class of its own and an absolute bargain.

When a 4G version comes out I'll have a Moto G if it's in a similar price bracket
