I dont make meat stock now that theres a vegetarian in the house as I hardly ever buy a whole chicken, just breast fillets.
Making stock is ok if you have a solid fuel stove which would be on all day regardless, but using the hob for it - nah!''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
I do make soup, but find rice hard to cook properly so get boil in the bag stuff
I do knit, but struggle to crochet
I do use my slow -cooker ,but have a breadmaker that I have never used (mind I stopped eating bread in August )
I do use cut up cloths for cleaning before binning them when they are passed it,but wouldn't fancy using 'wee' cloths (Loo roll is more to my liking)
I do use my microwave, and also my Remoska, but unless I am batch baking cakes my big oven rarely gets put on at all
I do try to recycle everything and use cut up Xmas cards as scrap paper for shopping lists etc
I do cook from scratch as I like to know whats in my food,I don't eat ready meals ,unless they have been drastically reduced in the supermarket.
I do limit going to the shops unless I really need something Its the 8th today and I haven't been food shopping this Year yet:):)
I do look through charity shops ,but mainly for books or wool for my knitting.
I loathe and detest shopping for stuff unless I can't avoid it,but I am quite happy to go with DD and sit and have a coffee whilst she trails around the shops:) basically I guess I am a fairly frugal person who is always busy and find shopping as a hobby boring I can always find something far more interesting to do.:):):)

Tea bags - I just made a cup of tea with a free sample tea bag, and the bag is sat on the side in the kitchen ready to do a 2nd cup. We only ever get bags as free samples, we buy loose leaf tea. We always have breakfast tea, Earl Grey and green tea in the house.
I'm another who won't compromise on coffee - we buy beans and grind them as we want them.
Moon cup - er.... no, couldn't do that in a million years. No need for anything of that ilk now, but when I was young enough, I couldn't even cope with tampons, it had to be pads. Phobia about ....um.... "inserting" foreign objects._pale_If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Agree with VfM - boil in bag rice is an unnecessary expense. I find soaking the rice for a while and then straining it helps to remove some of the starch.
Measure rice into saucepan, add twice as much water and then bring to boil. Boil for 7 minutes. Turn off heat and leave to steam for about 20 minutes. Fluff up with fork. Absolutely perfectly cooked rice every time.
The only time I use boil in the bag rice is when I'm on a self catering holiday.

Thanks for all your answers.
Glad you're all not perfect old stylers!0 -
I cannot make bread with yeast. It takes too long, needs a lot of kneading, and often comes out rubbish. I buy most of our bread, although I can produce decent soda farls and wheaten soda bread at the weekends for our fry.
I don't like cheap loo roll, but I will buy branded ones on special offer or in Savers when its cheap. When my kids were in cloth nappies I quite liked using cloth wipes for toilet visits, they get you nice and clean if you dampen them with warm water first and is very good for that certain time of the month when loo-roll disappears quite quickly. DH was a bit creeped out by it though. I don't use them now because it seems pointless when not doing a load of cloth nappies every couple of days.
I love my Mooncupwell actually, I've lost it and use HM cloth pads. I went swimming the other week and had to use a tampon for the first time in years and it felt horrid, never again!
I'm also terrible at growing veg plants!

Even more moneysaving is I went to the doctor, got the jab and now have no need for mooncups, tampons or anything else for that matter!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Just wondered why chip fryer is considered OS, have seen a few people mention it on here. I don't have one, I just cook my chips in the oven.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
