I use a bottle of Method handwash in the bathroom because it lasts for absolutely ages. Everywhere else I use a bar of soap.
I read recently (Clean Air Council) that 2.5 million plastic bottles are thrown away every hour so much better to recycle a small cardboard box the soap came in.0 -
I won't go cold for anything, I maintain the house at 16-18 degrees while we are awake.
I won't eat cheap bread, I find it awful and make my own or buy YS bakery bread.
I will do pretty much anything else except the wee cloth, I'd never even heard of it before :rotfl:£36/£240

One step must start each journey
One word must start each prayer
One hope will raise our spirits
One touch can show you care0 -
I won't hoard stuff as I don't have room to - even if it is on special offer
I don't grow much, I claim it's because I've only a balcony, but could do much much better.
I won't give up my gym - I know I should exercise outside. I've tried it, but not been as successful as in the gym. This has brought my weight back to a healthy level which is good for my long term purse strings
I knit and sew, but I certainly don't consider this money saving.
I don't bake, I can and probably a little too well, but choose not to eat bread/biscuits/cakes - so I guess this one is even as I don't buy that stuff either
I cook all the time, but I won't give up our occasional meals out
I won't compromise on my food, I like free range organic eggs, sustainable meat, etc.. But I try and make the most out of what I buy and don't waste food.
I won't use loyalty cards - shh...they're trying to get us all, no way I'm giving them my data!
Some things I do that others from this list can't stand...
I use cheap loo roll as the expensive stuff clogs up our plumbing
I use a moon cup, initially for environmental reasons, but now because I feel soooo much cleaner with it. I hate anything else.
I make stock, not because of saving money, but because it tastes so much better.
I make soup, and so many different variations. I only takes about 20 minutes and I find it theraputic
I choose to use reusable cloths / bags for just about everything except loo roll for sustainability reasons
I love to go to charity shops, but will only buy something I need.
I do line dry my clothes, I always have done
I love the library - means I don't have books clogging up place at home0 -
Well you learn something new everyday...and today I have learnt about wee cloths :embarasse
OS things I don't do:
- Use a moon cup - I'm sure it works for lots of ladies but I can't be doing with it
- Knit - I can knit in a straight line only and have absolutely no inclination to further my knitting skills
-Cook/eat offal
-Buy cheap meat/eggs/fish - would rather eat veggie meals 5 days a week and have 2 days of fish from the fishmongers or meat from the butchers, free range eggs etc. I understand why some people buy eggs from caged hens etc, each to their own, but I just can't do it
-Have a slow cooker - Prefer to batch cook and freeze ready to be defrosted and reheated when required
-Have a food processor - I have a stick blender and an electric whisk (the latter was a wedding present) everything else is done by hand
-I do have a breadmaker but usually only use packets of bread mix
-Don't make my own hummous (yes, I know, if I had a food processor I could make my own hummousQuite frankly I can't be bothered to faff about with a food processor)
-Don't have a steamer - I just use a saucepan with a colander with the saucepan lid on top (hang on a minute, that's actually a bit OS actually!)
-Don't add oats or lentils to bolognese sauce - I do add loads of vegetables though
-Don't use broccoli stalks - they do go in the compost box though
We do have several holidays/weekends away a year which some people try to guilt trip us about, but we save for these holidays - helped along by the money we save on our spending, not having takeaways etc, not spending a fortune on getting my nails done etc.DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0
