  • I just wanted to stop by and say hi. I haven't written this week because there's been nothing to say. No money coming in, no money going out.

Hope everyone has a great Easter x

  • Hey ladies

Still not much to update. Sold an ebay item yesterday. Payday Friday finally so will be able to make some payments. Managed to get by without doing a full shop this week so been able to save a bit of money.

I have a referral link to Pinecone Research if anyone is interested in joining? You don't get many surveys - I get about one a month, some people get more, some get less, but it's £3 for every survey. Let me know if you want one :)
  • Hi hon

I'll take it if you still have it! I've been trying to find more of these to do and had already taken a look at Pinecone so that would be fab. If the referral link's already gone never mind.

Glad you've got payday this week - yay!!

Have a great afternoon :) xx

  • Payday tomorrow thankfully!!

I decided to change my broadband/phone provider to Sky last night. I'm currently with Orange, and only pay £19 a month, and get excellent internet with them. HOWEVER, Sky sent me a mailshot yesterday saying I get free unlimited BB for 12 months, just need to pay £15.40 line rental. I had a look on Quidco and they are also giving £100 cashback to upgrade so I was sold!!

Just waiting to hear from them if I need to cancel with Orange myself or if they do it for me. They do if you're with BT/TalkTalk but there's no mention of Orange.

Bit annoyed with Orange atm since I upgraded my mobile with them the other week (absolutely LOVE my Xperia Z1 by the way, I'm glad to have stepped away from the iPhone, it's so much better). They've put £10 insurance on my bill that I didn't ask for. I tried to cancel it one evening last week and spoke to some [non-English speaking] guy on the phone, who tried to put me through to the cancellations dept. to deal with it. He came back on the line to tell me the cancellations dept. was closed, could he call me back tomorrow to sort it out? This was at 8.30, I think the other department closed at 8. So I said sure, phone any time, bye bye, blah blah etc. No phone call all day, then it gets to 8.30, and sure enough he calls me and attempts to put me through to the right dept. Here's me thinking if they were closed yesterday, surely they're closed today......... Anyway, the line went dead. I assume he realised what an a** he was and they were still closed. He never phoned back. I also got a text message (I think just a regular thing sent out to new upgrades or whatever) asking about my recent insurance purchase, and it said something like "text back no if you did not request to purchase insurance" so I text no. Got a text back saying someone would call me to discuss this. Did anyone call me? NO!

This was all late last week just before the bank holiday. So I wasn't able to do anything until Tuesday, when I finally managed to speak to someone to get it cancelled. They also said it would be taken off my existing bill. According to my online account, it's still on there, and since the direct debit comes out tomorrow I don't hold much hope if it being adjusted before then. Which means my phone bill is going to be £40 instead of £30. Grrr!

Hopefully it means it'll be deducted off next month's, but I don't have much faith in them so may have to make some more phone calls to them. What a faff. I hate when they add stuff without you actually asking for it.

Well, that was a long and pointless story. I'm at work and obviously just procrastinating from doing anything actually productive...
  • Hey hon

That sounds like a nightmare! Make sure you do keep calling though and get every penny back. I too had problems with Orange and they got it wrong each time. The original query was a £4 or £5 call that I hadn't made. As they didn't refund it they said they'd do it the next month - and didn't. They offered me £10 credit as apology but failed to credit my account or put on the refund. This went on for a good 5 or 6 months and ended with them knocking my bill down to £15 from £28 every month. I had 15months left of the contract so it worked out a lot to them. All because they failed to place a refund on the account!

    Good luck! :) xx

  • Thank the lawd for payday!

Whacked £200 off the overdraft, and updated signature. I'm now under £4k! Still feels like a LOT...

I'm hanging fire for a couple days before paying the credit card as last pay day I was too hasty and it ended up getting credited against the previous month. I'm even tempted to wait until 1st May, so I can count it as a payment for May as otherwise I may not reach my £500 target in May. I know it's a bit silly but still...

Extra £17 in the payslip this month too thanks to Mr Taxman. Always appreciated!

I've come across one downside to my new phone lately. The YNAB app for Android is nowhere near as nice or as easy to use as the iPhone app. It doesn't seem to let me make transfers (so I can't "pay" my overdraft). No big deal, as all that stuff I should be doing on the PC version, but I like to be able to sort it out whilst I'm at work. Oh well - I'll get used to it!

Hi Kim, under 4k is amazing! If you're not impatient, then I'd hang off paying the credit card until the 1st to give your May figures a boost. (I couldn't do it - I'm far too impatient).

Also wanted to say that's great about your new broadband deal - cheaper and £100 cashback :) Did you get everything sorted out with Orange?
