Well, well, well.
Can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I last properly updated!
I think most people I followed have moved on from MSE themselves, but I just thought that I should post that, as of today, 1 July 2016, I am debt free.
I've just made a payment of £470 to my credit card to clear it. And that's it. No more debts.
Apart from a mortgage.. but that doesn't really count!
Yes, this should have all been cleared about two years ago- but my money situation drastically changed in December 2014 when I moved in with my partner. Most of our money is now joint, with a little left over each month for ourselves. This meant that for most of 2015 I was putting close to the minimum and the balance was only dwindling. As the interest free period ended in January this year though, I've been back up to paying £100 or so each month. I've just had a lump sum of £1000 from my nan's will, and whilst I wanted to save it all, I've decided I'd use half of it to clear the card once and for all.
It feels nice to know it's gone, and it'll be nice not to have to keep making a monthly payment!
Things have changed here though, I've recently been diagnosed with ME/CFS, and currently battling with my employer to get my hours reduced part time as I don't feel I can cope with full time work in the long term. That's obviously going to have an effect on finances as I'll be around £500 shorter each month... but needs must, we'll manage, and my health comes first (although my employer doesn't seem to see it that way).
Anyway.. hope you're all well, and good luck to you all still battling with those cards. You'll get there xx0
