Evening everyone. Only on here now after my girlies gone to bed.
Had one back at school today, well preschool, and we ended up staying till 10am as the older one who had an inset day wanted to stay to say hello to all her old teachers and play for a bit!
When we eventually got home, we did the whole baking of brownies, but I managed to muck them up, not quite sure how, and it was a ready mix packet!
Dinner was more of a success. Chicken cacciatore (well a simple version) and it was really nice. The girls liked it as well which is the most important thing. Will defo make again, but how do I make the sauce a bit thicker next time? I cooked it on low in the slow cooker for about 7 hours and it was vegetables (onion, mushroom, pepper) with chicken and a pasta sauce. Should I put cornflour in about an hour before serving?
A little bit annoyed at myself that my wallet didn't come out of my bag today as I only left the house to take and collect my youngest to preschool, but that I still managed to spend money. Damn internet. Getting a bit carried away buying games for the PS3 that my brother gave the girls for Xmas. As he bought a PS4, he very kindly gave it to them for free, but I figured the kind of games he played on it will not be suitable for a 5 year old and 3 year old!
My task for tomorrow while at work is to call tax credits. My youngest is now 3 and gets 15 hours funding, so I can't claim for her preschool. Still, I suppose I'm not paying out the money for the preschool, so still will be better off.
Making a list of recipes I need to look up (and yes I have got loads of ideas of this thread in case anyone goes, ooh that's what I said I was making today, haha), so if anyone can help with what I'm going to look up so far, that'd be great! And yes, I am a very novice cook just trying to find things my girls will eat. Got advice on this site about how to compile all my recipes into one place, so will attempt to that tomorrow at work with the recipes I have so far.
What I need recipes for are:-
Toad in the Hole
Cheese Straws
Slow Cook Lamb Stew
Thai Chicken Curry
Chicken Pasta Bake
How many of you spotted what you have already mentioned today? Heehee.
Lamewolf – do you do something about dogs' accommodation while you are on holiday? My whole family is going away in August and I really don't want to put my staff in kennels. She's 7 and never been in anything like that. My dog walker (yes, I know, not very OS, but it's hard when you are single, work and have two little sproglettes, so I don't mind) takes dogs into her house which is great as I hate the idea of doggie being in a cage, but in case she's fully booked up, wondered what other options are out there besides the cage route.
Fiftyeighter – my house seriously needs rewiring, don't think it's been updated since the 1950s when the house was built. There are hardly any plugs in the place! Unfortunately, can't afford the £3,000 it would probably cost and no doubt all the walls in the house would be wrecked and with the girls, just don't think I could hack the stress.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Evening
Glad today went well TTFTM and I hope Glitterkitty had a lovely day.
Hugs to all those that need them.
Been to work today. Would rather have been at home with DS1. He's not feeling too well, nausea, temperature, headache etc. he's rarely ill so I know he's bad when he needs painkillers. He not due back to school until Wednesday so he'll hopefully be better by then.
DS2 went ice skating with the holiday club. He wasn't looking forward to it because he was worried he'd be unable to stand up without holding his Dads hand but he managed well and had a great time.
Only four days until the weekend!0 -
pollyanna we had a really simple dinner tonight. It's based on Lorraine Pascales.
Fry bacon/pancetta with onions and mushrooms. Once cooked Add 300mls of dbl cream and 100gms of grated Parmesan. Heat until cream is hot and cheese melted. Add black pepper. Serve with pasta.
It's gorgeous.0 -

This does indeed sound rather nice!
My girls are very much into their tomatoey sauces, but there is one sauce which they love which is a German packet sauce. No idea what's in it, but it's the only non tomatoey thing they eat. It's a creamy type sauce, so I might just try your recipe and see how it goes down.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Evening all.
Still not back to normal here as dh worked from home today & will tomorrow as he has conjunctivitis. He is also sleeping downstairs.
Been to the gp twice today. 1st time for me to get my anti black dog pills. Then had to take dd as her anxiety is terrible. She's been referred to a psychologist.
I tidied her room while she was at school. My goodness, she is a messy mare!
Ok, am off now.
Oh, the dogs I saw are beautiful!
Love, hugs & spoons
Good night xxx0
